I feel like ISU has to luck into a win here at some point. Talent wise the teams haven't been that different year to year, but ISU just hasn't gotten it done and have had zero balls bounce their way. just by the odds. I feel like it is this year.
Kirk has beaten our coach 6 times, this is an away game..... Hope Campbell was on the phone Jack Rabbits John for some tips. The first time ISU beat Iowa after a long time was on the on road.....
They have an insane punter with a better defense then ISU. Lethal combo for a road game.
6 times? HCMC has lost to Iowa five times running. If you are going to be a poor Cyclone fan, at least get your facts right.

After rewatching both games, one thing I noticed where Iowa has an advantage, is the physicality of their defense compared to the physicality of our defense. They were putting the hurting on a lot of SDSU players. They hit better, stop people in the tracks and are able close in and make stops in space very well. Our d is not at that level at all, I'm worried about our linebackers. But the good news is we are not going up against a great offense.
I felt like our 2019 team was way better than them, we dropped 3 int's turned it over in their red zone, had devastating special teams gaffs (not even talking about the punt return collision), and Iowa got away with favorable calls from the officials. Just a weird game all the way around. I almost think without the weather delays, we may have actually blown them out.

We always seem to find unique and creative ways to lose this game. EIU is in our heads at this point, and it would be unwise to expect a consistent, multi-year trend to suddenly change.
That said, they are horrible and plagued by injuries. I will be embarrassed if we lose.

It’s largely up to us. They are not something special. Take care of the ball, solid (or at minimum adequate) special teams and don’t do anything stupid, we will have every opportunity to win. Don’t do those things and you know what it will look like.
There’s about the same odds of you having to eat that door as there are only 2 self proclaimed Iowa fans that clicked an answer on that poll.
Yep. It’s the only game Iowa has to show up for then they get a cakewalk in the Big Ten West and Campbell has shown every year he’s ok losing this game if it means not showing future opponents our play book.
There's proof that Matt's style/scheme isn't a good fit for this particular game.
The program is better than it's ever been (at least going back to Earle who laid an egg in this game as well) but maybe some good fortune will finally break the spell.

This is ISU best chance in years. 2019 and 2021 Iowa was a heavy favorite. We out rushed UNI by a ton in 2019 and won by 3, that is pathetic. Its like beating a team in the stats by 14 and only winning by 3. This is the first true pick em since prior to 2019. This is one of Iowa worst rushing opening debuts in forever. Its not just Petras, this Iowa offense cannot run the ball either.
