49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Pete Taylor was the bomb. ISU was lucky to have him.
You are so spot on. Pete was not only an amazing announcer but he was just an all around great human being. Back when it was hard to watch ISU on TV, Pete said he'd record the games for me (on VHS) so that I could watch them each week. He didn't really know me from squat but that tells you just how much he cared about ISU fans and that he'd do just about anything for them.

Love him and miss him each and every day

Jon and Eric are fantastic but there will never be another Pete and rightly so. Stayed after a bb game once and had several players and coaches sign autographs on a basketball for me, Fizer, Tinsley etc. Asked Pete if he would sign it too. He did, right underneath the Rawlings logo, dead center. My favorite Cyclone memorabilia. Went to his memorial service at Hilton. Not a dry eye there.

Garoppolo signed a one year restructured deal with the niners.

With a no trade clause.

That's a shame for Brock. Working with Shanahan would have been good for him, but I have my doubts he's going to stick there.

What a weird ass saga. Don’t know why Jimmy would do that. You’d have to think he could have gotten a look as a starter for a team like the Seahawks or Browns.
Those teams weren't going to trade for him when they thought SF might cut him. I suspect SF didn't want to face him in the division and Lance he wasn't ready, so they back tracked.

If they like Brock enough they’ll keep him somewhere. Jimmy is a one year deal here.

He also probably figured nobody would touch him for 25MM. Drop it down some and if you are the backup you make decent money. It seems once a QB gets cut and doesn't have a team, they are regulated to near retirement at his age. He needed to show he would play for a little less and stay in the league than sit at home making good money and being done. Probably would lose his subway gig if he was at home also.

I know. I’m saying it’s weird for Jimmy to restructure his deal to be a backup when he could have just let the 49ers cut him and then he could have signed somewhere to be a likely starter.

I'm guessing his agent has been busy shopping him around and he didn't like what the options were.

This. If there was a team willing give him a starting spot, his agent would have identified it, and he wouldn't have signed this restructured deal with the 49ers.
