Give him a few more starts against LHP and if he can't show improvement, cut bait. Platooning with Arraez against LHP is about the only spot that makes sense for him.
You can’t have a pitcher like archer who never goes deep by design with a pen that’s this bad.
The Twins second tier 'rentals' can only do so much, unfortunately.
This team would never compete in the playoffs with the Yankee$ or the trash can bangers so it's time to build for next year. Figure out what you're going to do with guys like Archer, Pagan, Gio, Sanchez, Maeda, Thielbar, Dobnak, Duffey, and of course, Sano will be gone. I'm assuming they are just going to play Correa and let him walk.
Whatever they do at the deadline, Falvey cannot not touch the young core of Kirilloff, Larnach, Miranda, Arraez, Winder, Duran, Ryan, Jax, Jeffers, and Lewis.

Only question is if the Twins would be willing to shell out at least $7 mil?
You can't insist on keeping the core you players and also holding on to guys like Gio. I would hate to trade Miranda or Lewis, but if you can trade one for a legitimate Ace, then keep Gio. If you want to give 3B to Lewis or Miranda full time, then no reason to keep Gio.
The need to pick a lane. The either need to be willing to trade someone of their young core (Lewis, Larnach, Kiriloff or Miranda) for a legit Ace, even 1.5 years of Luis Castillo.
I would regretfully agree to trade Arraez for an Ace with more control. If Arraez headlined a deal for Sandy Alcontrera, I would do it.
In my mind, Buxton is the only untouchable
Arraez, Joe Ryan and Duran are the next category. Realistically untouchable because the type of player you want for them are not going to be traded.
Miranda, Lewis, Wonder, Larnach, Jeffers, Kiriloff are the next category. If you can get a high end SP for 1.5 years, do it.
In no situation would I trade more than one or two of those guys at most, though.
I just don't see Falvey being involved in the Castillo sweepstakes. Even Frankie will probably be too rich for his liking.
Somebody cheap like a non-ace Quintana, sure.
I didn't know Sano's agent is active on CF. We are rooting for him, but he's been given every opportunity to improve his game. 088 BA and his insane strikeout rate makes the decision easy..HE GOT TO GO!!!
Especially when he joins a crowded infield at the expense of Buxton's back up in center.
Then they will ask for Miranda and we shouldn't give any in the list. Risky that they prefer other offers, but if you make an offer for 3 or 4 like Quintana,maybe you get one.

They're absolutely going to have to trade some prospects or young guys already up to make room. Otherwise they'll lose some for nothing.
