In fairness to Fred, he walked into a terrible roster setup. Nobody was going to win with scrubs like he had (in the context of pros)

The team that made the ECF the year before? The coach before him did okay with those guys. Fred was just a bad fit for that roster, it was similar to Bill Callahan forcing his west coast offense at a school that had run the option for decades.

Well fired coaches get a million chances in the pros so it's a wonder that he's not there and is winning 7 or 10 college games in a season.
