Ed Podolak Done

Not officially he didn't...

Exactly. Somebody made the decision. It would be hard to believe that Barta at the very least didn't give some input. His words have weight too.

Does anybody doubt if Pollard wanted Heft gone it wouldn't happen, or if he wanted him to get a pass for a lapse in judgement in public he wouldn't get it?

Yup, they already have been. Not sure what Eddie has to do with that though, since the football team is part of the U of I, and Eddie works for Learfield Sports.

You don't think Eddie was pressured into quitting at all?...why is Barta the one releasing a press release about how disappointed he is since Eddie doesn't work for him? Btw, Iowa Basketball will be hurt in the future without Tucker if the first part of your statement is accurate.

Public intox is a crime? Drinking underage is a crime?

ISU athletes have never been guilty of this. Get real.

Some of you are so bipolar. In the other thread, he should be gone because he's a disgrace. Now the U of I dropped the ball.

I sure as heck never said anything like that...these have been my first comments on the pictures...morally wrong...yes...breaking the law...no...Podolak is a good guy that got held to a double standard by a University that's had FAR worse things going on in the last couple of years...and many of those people committing those infractions have been given second chances.

therefore if an isu athlete does it is less of a crime? so if an iowa football player or two gang rapes a girl it is cool at isu?

I would have liked to see him suspended and helped via treatment.

Firing the guy will not likely help his perceived issues with alcohol.

Heck, I've been guilty of it, and imo people shouldn't be booted off a team for it...but it's far worse than what Eddie did.

No, you Hawks just suck at not getting caught.

Sorry, and I'm probably one of the few guys that likes you here, but it's true.

The Hawks just get caught.

This is not Ed's only incident. Maybe he will get help for his problem now...

My point is, it's not a crime. Any player who has committed a crime is no longer on the team. That's all I'm saying.

LOL, ouch?

And I agree, they do get caught.

I overstepped with crime...my main point is that he didn't deserve to be fired "retire"...and there is no way he wasn't pressured into it, because I know he was excited about coming back for next season.

And yes, Eddie P. was an employee of Learfield, but it's impossible to think Barta didn't have any influence since the agreement was between the two.

Say if Pete Taylor had done this, things would have been different as he was part of the AD. The relationships between radio guys and AD goes anywhere from informal to AD positions. Really is dependent on the school.
