Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

Lots of locations...but I really like Giordono's...although you can get that in Des Moines now...so maybe there is a local joint someone will hopefully reccomend!
You'll hear a lot of recs for Lou Malnati's, deservedly so, but when we lived in Chicago we always preferred Gino's East.
I need to try that again, I've only had it once a long time ago with some friends and it was garlic and ? ( Maybe just garlic) and the toppings weren't my favorite (just too much garlic but it was what was ordered) but their crust was my favorite so far
It's been 20 years since we lived there, so who knows, but I'm sure they're still getting it done at a high level. Uno also was really good.
Love deep dish but this bit is hilarious

1. Pequod’s (but only two locations and Lincoln park really the only convenient one)
2. Lou Malnati’s
3. Pizano’s
4. Uno/Due
5. Gino’s East
I like all of those.

I was insanely lucky my office was near the super tiny Niles location or maybe they called it Skokie and I’d walk there for lunch every Friday as my weekend kickoff. Unless things have changed only two locations and that one is tiny with limited hours.
I lived not far from Lincoln park location and it’s the one place I have to go when I’m back.
I never tried Burt’s Place but I always considered it. For those who don’t know Burt developed the Pequod’s recipe, got mad and started his own place. The rules for ordering Burt’s make the soup Nazi seem friendly and convenient. No clue if it still exists.
My best suggestion would be to skip the deep dish and got straight for the tavern style. That’s kind of pizza Chicagoans eat, not deep dish.
