This is for promotional purpose only, do not post choices here (Official thread arrives Tuesday.)

This week, we launch our annual albums-by-decade series, for years ending in 2.

So, for part 1, choose up to five of your favorite LPs released in 1962 and/or 1972. (Those years only, NOT the entire decade.) In follow-up weeks, we’ll do ’82/’92 and ‘2002/’12.

Choices should focus on studio albums. Avoid greatest hits/live/compilations, except in rare cases when it encompasses a career/body of work. Live LPs are fair game, since those tend to have uniqueness beyond studio output. If you’re more singles-oriented, you may substitute top singles from the specific year.

Each selection may include up to 4 clips from that LP. In addition to the tracks, we encourage you to expound on why the album is meaningful, including personal history of your relationship with the record and its music.

If you have any questions about the series, feel free to ask here.

Start your listening research!

Okay by you if the YouTube link carries the entire album (rather than us posting separate clips)?

That certainly is more efficient, but the main reason we have a 4-clip clause: People are allowed to choose an album that's already posted, but augment with different song clips than the initial post.

We didn't include that aspect in the promo portion, it'll be in the main thread. I figured for research phase, it wouldn't be esssential.

I suppose a full-album link could be OK and others still could cite an LP w/ individual clips ... but I want to get input from @MeanDean and @CycloneRulzzz.

Just asking, since I made several pleasant discoveries on YouTube last night while revisiting some classics after reading MeanDean's post. Seems to me if people have the whole album, they don't need to repost, although I do have that problem if I can't remember what's been posted since the beginning in any given Note thread.

Remembering the good old days of buying an LP for one song while all the rest of the songs on it were mostly crap.
