Yeah. A couple of kids they're going to stash in Europe.
The NBA almost needs to go to a 1 round draft because nobody wants any pick after about 20 anyway.
The bucks are in a unique position I feel like because they're so stacked they can just take flyers on people. Aj wasn't considered a draft able prospect by most teams needing an impact right away. I don't think he was even a top 100 draft prospect unless lists changed leading up to the draft.
I was just confused why they would draft 2 they planned to stash in Europe but then sign AJ to a 2way. Good for AJ, no issues with him, just trying to understand the process.
Oh I see what you're saying. A lot of those players that are stash prospects have pro contracts in those countries and have buyouts to join the NBA. So they can't bring them over as 2 way players here without then buying out. Not sure specifically with the bucks
I believe their thought process was the can get the rights to the two Europe players and let them develop and not pay them until they are ready to come over. They had already agreed to give AJ a contract that is a 1 year try out (maybe 2) in the G-League at a lesser price than trying to bring the Europe players over now. I not sure about the Euro's contracts but likely they are under contract with their clubs and would require a buy-out and Visa etc and may not even be available this year anyways. I doubt the Euro players would agree to a 2 way which is likely less then they are making in Europe but if they develop and ready to help the team the Bucks will pay any remaining buy out and a contract to get the player to come.
AJ gets $465,000 which is likely more than he would have gotten in NIL money anywhere. Just a good deal all around for him.
King fans aren't thrilled with their pick. LOL...... I don't get the love for Murray. Yes, he's a good player. But lottery pick? Ehhhhhh. Maybe they can trade him to the Pacers for basically nothing. Forgot the Kings took Jimmer Ferdette in the lottery. Dang. Murray might prove me wrong, but I doubt it. Either way, he's a rich son of a bi@@% now.

But the contract isn’t guaranteed right? Pretty sure he can get cut at any time. Probably Europe bound.
It's not guaranteed, however, the Bucks wouldn't have done this immediately if they didn't want him.
I'm not sure why you've been so dead set on wanting him to end up in Europe.
It's just how the NBA draft system is setup. Young international player looks intriguing but not ready? Take him in the 2nd round to secure the rights and hope is in the league in a few years. American college player who can transfer to a bigger program? Give them a 2 way deal to get the rights

Good for AJ. I personally would have rather lead the #1 conference in scoring, lead my team to another sweet 16 and then received the same 2 way deal in 12 months in addition to $150K in ISU NIL money.

I can appreciate your feelings but remember he's going to get more than 150k in any league he ends up in plus not have to worry about college classes anymore. Plus this removes the risk of having a serious injury in college and not getting anything if his career is over.Two-way contract FAQ

In his shoes I'd do the exact same thing. Make some good money playing A GAME for a few years and then join the real world at 26. Maybe get in to an asst coaching gig.
The class thing is less of an obstacle for grad students. Grad students would only have to take 6 credit hours in the fall and maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA to be eligible for the spring. He would not have to take any classes post Christmas break.

Or maybe he averages 12 a game and shoots 38% against a higher level of competition and the two way deal isn't there next year?
I don’t care where he ends up. But I think he ends up in Europe, regardless if he would have come to ISU for a year.
Almost better not to be drafted than drafted in the second round. At least then you get to pick the best situation for yourself rather than being stuck with a team that might not want you very much.
