well... the USA won but only scored 19 points total. Was tight game throughout. As pointed out in comments about the games in France, Ashley hardly touched the ball. She was one of two from the floor.

USA beats Austria, 18-16.

6 for Joens, including a pair from distance.

Pools A and D finish up today.

Pool A
1. China (3-1)
2. Lithuania (3-1)
3. Germany (2-2)

---------
4. Japan (2-2)
5. Romania (0-4)

Maybe it is just my Cardinal and Gold colored glasses, but I still think that the Iowa State 3x3 team of Ryan, Donarski, Diew, and Joens played as a team better than this group. No one seemed to care who scored - whoever was open. Less one on one more passing. Everyone got their chance to shine.

This team USA just does not seem to have that same chemistry, at least to me. Maybe it is the level of competition. Maybe it is the pressure.

Maybe the coach needs to man up and tell a certain player that she needs to play team ball or she will be getting bench minutes while the other three play the bulk of the game.

The way Miss Ball hog is playing I have often wondered if there is a coach.

The team is "coached" by Kara Lawson - formerly ESPN - now Duke. As much as I loved the way the ISU team played together international ball is a different animal. The ISU team would struggle with how physical these games are. That is why you need physical presences like Cox and Burdich. HVL is another thing that I will just leave at that.

Just watched the game versus Austria - not aesthetically pleasing! What has happened to Lauren Cox - she’s a shell of her former self?
