Not exactly sure this is the right forum for this article, so feel free to move it if necessary...

Either way, this is ridiculous!

If he is at a neutral venue he should be neutral: no "horns down" or "hook 'em" either. I highly doubt anyone would have gotten canceled for flashing the "hook 'em" sign after singing though.

All that being said, the NCAA has every right to use whomever they want at their championship events. But the fact that Tejas is so sensitive about this and has gotten it tabbed an "offensive gesture" and "taunting" would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Wasn’t the Horns Down at softball so they cancelled him at baseball?

It was. He was in Oklahoma City CWS for softball which is technically a neutral site game and he gave both a "go pokes" and a "horns down". The NCAA didn't like it.
So I guess then the question comes does the NCAA try to pick these people for being neutral, or does the NCAA pick fans of the teams involved on purpose. If they are intentionally picking fans of included fanbases, they probably should not expect them to act neutral.

Texas and NCAA need to learn there's nothing remotely "offensive" about "horns down".

The better word they may be looking for is "inappropriate" and it's only inappropriate in certain situations, not universally.

When they call something like "horns down" offensive they are actually making light of actual real offensive things out in the world.

Love that neutral site our #2 seed 25-5 team got in the NCAA tournament in 2000. Give me some dork doing horns down any day over that spartan green court/circus if it's about valuing neutrality.

After we beat Tx in FB last season I was walking out next to a Texas fan didn't say a word to him, Tx fan is coming from the other direction and flashes him the Horns down. I bust out laughing couldn't help it. I apologized to the guy I was walking beside and he said it's fine we sucked tonight. Made small talk with him the rest of the way out of the stadium.

I think on the field it could be taunting but if it’s not players involved in the game then it’s ridiculous.

General taunting still isn't something I'd label "offensive".

It's not like Deion Sanders doing his little dance after he breaks up a pass (as 100% of all defensive backs have done on every single play ever since) is the same as ethnic slurs.
