Some of you folks need to stop stereotyping. Was just a boomer in that regard unfortunately.
You see tons of these coaches from his generation lose their edge when they aren’t willing to change and adapt.

Hey I did say some coaches. Some from older generations do adapt. Saban’s part of that generation I mentioned after all. Some of you folks need to stop stereotyping.
Time to do our...
So, if I’d objected to someone stereotyping millennials (which I’ve done), you’d have called me a millennial?
It’s a message board my guy..So, if I’d objected to someone stereotyping millennials (which I’ve done), you’d have called me a millennial?
Sheer genius, this one.
Stereotyping is wrong, regardless of whether it’s age, gender, sexuality or…a whole host of things that would get this sent to the Cave.
So just stop. Please.

You took that way too seriously. So, if I’d objected to someone stereotyping millennials (which I’ve done), you’d have called me a millennial?

I was actually going to say that. Greatest generation had this same issue in coaching as they got older. You realize that happens with every generation? It will happen with yours. I was born in the late 70's and it's already happening to people my age. Heck, it's happening to me somewhat.![]()
I'm feeling pretty good about our in-state recruiting lately. Something past staffs havent been able to quite crack.
Why did you list the coaches in that order?I think 3 of Campbell's last 4 classes have been his best in-state classes so far. So, nice to see this improving.
We are not back to the McCarney glory days yet. Mac had a few in-state gems and was dominating the state of Iowa after fry retired and we were in the middle of our 5 game streak.
Overall here are the numbers by coach since 2002 (missing a lot of McCarney's early years due to lack of data on 247). I used average class sizes and average # of high school recruits from IA to compare across coaches with varying number of seasons. From a ranking perspective McCarney and Rhoads had the highest average in-state ranked recruits. The last few years, Campbell has been improving on quantity and quality (although 2021 was a set back with most of the top 10 in state players going out of state or to toe). Overall, good progress.
Also, important to note that although we are not back up to Mac level success in-state, we are doing very will in the Midwest overall. In fact, over half our recruits are from the Midwest (something Mac did well early on but struggled a bit at the end). Rhoads /Chizik only had about a quarter of their classes coming out of the midwest*.

*What I labled "Midwest": IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MN, MO, ND, SD, NE, OH, WI (basically, B12 North + b10 and ND/SD)

I was just objecting to stereotyping. That’s why I didn’t mention that Rhoads is Gen X, not a Boomer.Hey I did say some coaches. Some from older generations do adapt. Saban’s part of that generation I mentioned after all.

Everyone forgets us X’ersI was just objecting to stereotyping. That’s why I didn’t mention that Rhoads is Gen X, not a Boomer.
What everyone should be able to accept is that Boomers used to be as old as all you other generations. And, speaking for myself, I've learned so much and changed so much for the better than when I thought I knew everything. Just sayin.Everyone forgets us X’ers
