Who? I follow recruiting pretty close and I hadn't heard of 3 or 4 commits in this class until their commitment was announced. Doesn't seem like we're in on too many 4 stars this year.
J’Keem Jackson, Blake Purchase, Joshua Manning and Kenyon Sadiq are among a few we’re in on with a 4 star rating on either the composite or 247 rating. Plus Jamison Patton is awfully close to that rating if we land him. Could be one by next year.

Not to mention Kohl is already one four star.

Would love for ISU to be in position to only recruit 4/5 stars- but that will NEVER happen. As long as the state of Iowa only pumps out a few 4/5 star kids each year, ISU will always recruit mainly 3 star kids.

Coaching staff will need to turn 3 star HS kids, into All Big12 players.

I wasn't knocking any of the commits. Just thought it was strange that I can name probably 90% of the kids we have offered but more than half the commits I have not heard of. The two d-line commits I hadn't heard of until they commited. We tend to get commits from players before they get bigger offers, and that's great, but it would also be cool to get five or six 4 stars per class.

They’re working on that. Just setting a baseline of commits first, so they can focus attention elsewhere.

They do the very same thing pretty much every year.

That's why I'm happy when we get a Florida kid early but I know better than to get too attached.

If we can at least get to the point where we regularly land 3-5 4 stars every year, that’s pretty damn good. We’re at about 2 a year right now, so not far off.

Yeah. I love Jackson the CB, but even if he does commit, I’m not getting attached until he enrolls. I can smell Florida and Florida State’s bs money from here.
It's good we were on him before the blue bloods. Usually when this happens, we are taken out of consideration eventually. It's nice to have big time recruits talking about ISU, but realistically very few of them have us in the race when it's time to make their decision. Jackson now has offers from major programs and is still high on Iowa State. Maybe early playing time will be a bigger factor this kid. We tend to play most corners as true freshmen, so that could help.

Here’s one that’s both “offered before they got bigger offers” and a 247 four star. 10.8 100m, and a newspaper article I saw listed him at 6’2 1/2” and 210. WR/ATH.

The coaches are really loading up on those June Official Visit weekends. Last year, even though it was fairly early, those paid off in a big way.

I love this kid's highlight videos. I wonder if we are recruiting him as a TE or a WR. Reminds me of Irv Smith Jr. a little bit.

In the past, playing time and opportunity was king.

Still is very important. But obviously NIL has complicated things.
