Sunday OT: Let's Chat!

MSN messenger was the bomb. I still use my Hotmail.com email when a website needs an email that I know will get spammed. I even think it's the email linked to my Twitter that I rarely use.

Yes I was in college from 01 to 05 right before texting was a thing. AIM and Microsoft whatever.

It's how we communicated with people.

So in college when some people were unaware they had their whole hard drive shared on the ISU network and you'd come across some interesting stuff on StrangeSearch. Someone on my floor found someone that probably unknowingly had their saved AIM conversations shared. Had opened a few out of curiosity and found some conversations about their sex life. Needless to say probably not stuff they wanted others to see so think we were able to print something to their printer which was also shared to let them know.

I was on a chat community around 1995-96 or so that I would love if someone could help me remember the name of. I recall it as being IRC (internet relay chat) but I also think that's a technology and not a specific chat service tied to an ISP. It was just a bunch of chat rooms with names like #13-17regz. I wish I could remember how I even discovered it.

There were actual leader boards on SS that was like: games, porn, mp3s, movies, software.

Funny to see who had all the porn and how much they had.
