Football Parking

Some year we might. For now we're staying in A3 so more of our tailgating friends can find us easily.

Wife wants to be able to have flexible parking with some games we show up plenty early, some we show up enough time to grab a burger in a tent and walk in while eating it. Probably stay way up north again.

They stopped me and told me I couldn't enter for football. Must be who is working.
Yah that's strange.
I parked in C1 for every football game last year and entered off of eastbound Lincoln way. There were always 2-3 guys standing there scanning parking passes.

IMO that's the best lot for people who don't/can't tailgate and show up shortly before kick off. We could always drive right in and find a spot.
Even the Iowa game, we got there about 45 minutes before kick off, and there were a ton of open parking spots in C1.

Since we don't really tailgate ourselves but occasionally drop by to see friends at theirs, we liked the idea of having a stall reserved until kickoff so that we don't have to get there two hours early just to park...and still end up pissing people off because they are occupying two spaces and have to give one up for us.

Would love to hear what folks say when you pull in late to find a spot. I bought a pass last year for the last game of the year. Pulled in from the north side from Center Drive and drove all the way up to a spot in C6. This was probably a good 20 minutes before game time yet and no one was there to scan my pass. I was one happy ISU fan that day!!

Well, our car got vandalized one time. Other than that, mostly dirty looks. It was generally better when we drove the taco car (one of Taco Time's former smart cars) because that thing only took up about 1/3 to 1/2 of a space, so we would coordinate with the people expanded into the space so that they still had the use of most of the space.

The worst is when some guy tries to navigate his F350 dually thru the lot and attempt to turn into another aisle. Had one genius run over a friend's cornhole boards and crushed them into dust. No apology. Kept going. The ironic thing is that there was only the driver and a passenger. They didn't need to drive something so huge to the game. Especially when they show up 30 minutes before kickoff. If you do this, people will hate you. These lots were designed in the mid-70s for small and medium sized cars with the occasional Electra 225 or Eldorado.

Might have to put this in with my tailgate equipment this season.

Were your friend's cornhole boards in the driving lane?

I agree, driving a monster truck through the lots that late is probably a faux pas, BUT...if they paid for parking, tailgate or no, they have a right to park.

Well I showed up before 4 am at the Iowa game last year, pulled into a spot with my daughter to start setting up for my group. Noticed a bunch of staring people. Then a tapping on my window. Some Jerk in a Truck...WITH A TRAILER, had pulled up behind me and said this is his spot. He said he always parks there and he has people counting on him to get it. I said well its first come first serve and he would have to take a different one.. But he threw a fit.

So after arguing for a few minutes I just moved so he could take his 2 spots for his truck and trailer. He liked to use the "this is Iowa State, I should be nice and give him the spot", not realizing how it works both ways.

As far as I knew you could not bring trailers, and could only take one spot, and it was first come first serve on spots, but this guy sure thought none of those pertained to him.

If his group has 2 passes, theoretically they could use 2 spots. Gray area, depending on enforcement. Doesn't make it less dickish, though.

For one thing, vehicles should not be able to drive that far in that center aisle. There are/should be barricades between the various lots in all north/south drives. That's why there are directions on how to enter "your" lot.
Having said that, I know parking lot people usually just let drivers through. That should be stopped at the original entry point.
