The biggest point being that Gunner isn’t poor and neither are 95% of Cyclone graduates and posters on this website. If you don’t want to give or you are too young in your career then just be honest.

My “poors” comment was relative. Am I poor? No. Am I “a poor” compared to Georges Niang and Dan McCarney? Yes sir I am.

Just casually tried to test the interest in mrs cyfan92 in throwing our money into NIL.

She was mad I asked... I believe her quote was "you want to pay 18 year old's with our money... I'd rather our money be given to hungry children"

Looks like I'm out fam..

Have you ever seen a 5 star defensive tackle recruit? I bet they're super hungry alot of the time.

Fair questions; not sure of the answers as I didn’t get enough time to ask every question that ran through my mind.

The gist of the message was that we’re going to be 12th out of 12 in the new Big 12 in AD donation giving and things are looking like we’ll certainly be in the same position for NIL giving barring any fundamental change in attitude and trends. I’m less worried about us and K-State battling for the 11th and 12th position and more about the likely drastic spread between the top 10 and those last 2.

Unfortunately, there are enough currently mid-tier schools (think Oklahoma State, Florida State, Arkansas, Miss State, etc) that are going to have a big time financial advantage that could leap them into a new tier between the current top dogs and us current mid-tier programs.

At the end of the day, we're still going to need to be a developmental school. Get the 3-star guys, hope that we can be competitive enough to keep a fair share of them after they develop in years 1 and 2 and sprinkle in with transfers.
TJ's system seems well suited for that type of system. It's not for everybody, and the qualities that thrive in that system may not do as well in others.

Maybe they should have had Terry Woods be the ambassador. I’m sure it has nothing to do with Niang and McCarney’s demeanor or the loyalty they have shown to Iowa State.

I look forward to you spouting off about how you paid for so and so to play amateur basketball.
Question #1 - will drunk NILing become a thing?

Question #2 - what percentage of people that donate $100 are going to expect Eli King to give their kid's youth bball team a weeklong free camp in Sukup? My experience with the number or random dumbasses that think because they paid some state taxes that they have the right to endless thousands of dollars worth of ISU people's time to give them personal tours and entertain their dumb ideas suggests it will be quite high.

@rochclone is going to be the poster child for the “NIL Karen”.

I lived with a track student athlete in the early 2010's.. His family was poorer than poor and he was WELL taken care of thru stipend and food allowances.. That story was the biggest farce in the world and also not a problem in 2022 with current NCAA guidelines
You don't know that. It's easy to be jaded, harder to be compassionate.

The biggest star at your university was not going to bed hungry.. He was likely tired of dining center food and wanted takeout from somewhere different
Didn't he flat out say it was just the dining center didn't accommodate like a 4th or 5th meal for him after like night practice.
