Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

Arkansas already has 19 players scheduled for Schollarship next year. Miami I am not sure how much NIL money they would have. My guess would be Michigan or Ohio State. That would be my biggest guess.

Is it this season or next season where they don't even care about scholarships anymore?

I mean if you're getting 750K a year to walk on at one school or 700K and a scholarship to go to another what is the difference?

Of course players aren't going to be thrilled about losing playing time to non scholarship pros being added to existing roster...so I guess that'll result in even more transferring.

College sports has always been about money, but now it's more visible. I hate the direction of college sports, but you could see this direction coming It use to be a facilities arm race, now it's what you can offer a kid from a money standpoint. ISU just doesn't have deep pockets, nor will they ever. I'll be curious to see the financial impact this has on the state of Iowa.

Will there even be a state of Iowa in 10 years if the NIL continues like this?!

I’m going to wish TH the best. Just a young man that is trying to find his way and probably offered some money. Someone with his background has already seen much, and now wants to know what this is like. Don’t fault him for that.

There will be many more like this, and we will benefit from it too when we poach some Utah State or Western Kentucky player in the future.

Or VCU, but of course its totally different when they decide to come to ISU. It's a only a bad system when they leave ISU (unless they aren't producing and we pull their scholarship or strongly encourage them to move on - then also a positive thing).

Nick Osen from 247 had an interview with Miller and Condin this morning. Seems to think it's not a done deal that he is gone. But the Hunter camp is shopping his worth by entering the portal.

He is shopping on the Portal. My prediction is Tyrese gets some decent NIL money from a blue blood. Rides the bench and gets spot minutes as a sub. His shooting remains inconsistent. Doesn’t develop into an NBA pick. Bounces around in development leagues or foreign ball. Maybe catches on in the NBA as a sub eventually. Has an outcome similar to Lindell Wiggington. Doubtful he remains at Iowa State.

I'll be curious to see the impact it has on TJ. No matter how you understand/get the business, etc. , this has to suck. But he's stated over and over again how much he loves this place and wanted to coach here. Does that change if we can't be NIL competitive?

Yeah, there should have been some governing body effort to pay football and basketball players modestly to at least not have to worry about money while in school and then force programs to funnel some of that cash to a general scholarship fund rather than the world's largest video boards and luxury locker rooms.

Had they done that, college sports actually would be a non-profit and almost a charity. Instead it was never an actual non-profit. It's no different than non-profit churches who skirt the law by buying fleets of private jets.
