Chris Colvin Article in Chicago Sun-Times

i love everything ive heard about him. i think he can be a pretty good contributer right away next year. just that talented.

He will start over Buckley.

Yes! That's what I like to hear. I think he's going to be a man!

No. Maybe he starts later in the season. But no.

Are we starting this again with a player who has yet to take the court in any kind of college game? Earlier this year Buck was going to be starting by game 2 over Garrett, Lucca was going to be averaging 20, 20 and 20, Brack was heading to pros, etc....... fun to speculate though.

FINALLY!!! A voice of reason! The 2008-09 season isn't even halfway over and we are already speculating about next year. Is this a sign of what you guys think of this year's season and team?

He will not come in and start. And frankly if our current young players develop the way I think they can... that is a good thing.

If freshmen are able to come in and start it only means we are upgrading talent. I'm all for it. Having lived in Chicago for 14 years, praise at the high school level by the Times or Tribune is not something to take lightly. We all know that Chicago ballers are tough, play D and like to take it to the hole. I'd love to see some of that.

"Colvin also helped limit Marshall star Darius Smith (26 points, four rebounds, four steals) to just two points in the fourth quarter."

Nice......not only was he making free throws and a dunk, but he shut down the other teams best player in crunch time. This kid likes to get after it!

Edit: 200th Post!....time to go to bed. :)

He's got hops too, couple highlights from that game.

Another thing not mentioned is former ISU recruit Darius Smith, whom we decided to take Colvin over, had 26 points, but when they put Colvin on him in the fourth quarter, he only had 2.

My only question is Colvin going to be able to pick up McD's complicated offense from day one? I remember coach saying Buckley was good enough to start right from the get go when he was recruited and DB has barely seen the court so far. Just curious.

McD's complicated offense? I think this is what most people think, but how hard is it to learn an offense that stands around and passes the ball?

I learned his offense after watching it for 10 minutes

What people don't realize is that we are getting a taller, more talented Buckley in Colvin. He is a top 100 player in the country for a reason. Top 100 players can go to Duke and start, why wouldn't they at Iowa State?

There is no doubt in my mind that Colvin gets more minutes than Buckley next year. None. Why else would we go after him so hard if we felt so good about Buckley?

Because he is really good and we had a legitimate shot of getting him?

You don't stop going after players because they're "too good".
