Now that Marquis is gone and the CUBS opened up some more cash, we could still go after Peavy. The Padres are looking for a middle infielder and a starting pitcher to start.

Cubs could trade Sean Marshall (SP), Jeff Stevens (SP), and Ronny Cedeno (MI) for him

Would be great though

Zambrano, Harden, Peavy, Dempster, and Lilly -
then having *Gregg, Samardzija, Cotts, Wuertz, Gaudin to relief with Marmol and *Gregg closing

Rotoworld said the new Pads ownership isn't as worried about moving Peavy, so their asking price could be even higher.

The money that was freed up by dumping the contracts of DeRosa and Marquis went toward signing CAMB, as he shall now be called. Peavy might end up with the Cubs, but it won't be because the club has extra cash.

i dont think the cubbies can afford lowe, but man i would love to see andy pettite in the back of that rotation.

I don't see why they can't afford Lowe? Peavy would be just as spendy even after the trade I would think.

Pettite on the other hand, is well, old...and off the juice, not really sure he is worth a whole lot. I wouldn't mind giving him a shot though!

well lowe thinks hes worth 5 years and $80 million. he wont get close to that from the cubs. I would really like to see pettite. Tim Redding was a decent starter for the nationals...

If you are going to spend that kind of money you might as well get Lowe. Better big game pitcher and his sinker would be devestating at Wrigley, but of course Cubs fans already know that...
