Jalynn Bristow, a 6-foot-2 forward from Wichita Falls, Texas, announced her commitment to Iowa State. Bristow is ranked a four-star recruit by ESPN, which also lists her as the 48th-best prospect in the Class of 2023.

Brown, a 6-foot-3 wing from Derby Senior High School in Kansas, announced her commitment to the Iowa State women’s basketball program. HoopGurlz lists Brown as a four-star recruit and as the 41st-best player in the class of 2023.

Given the grade point of our women’s team, I’d think we’d see more play that extra year to work on an advanced degree. Then again, it opens up the opportunity to get that degree at another school, which is also commonplace. Maddie choose the latter for family reasons. Kristen moved on with her life. Ashley’s decision will be interesting.

Do Lexi and Emily even qualify for the extra year? They came after the season the tournament was cancelled.
Don’t know but Lexi needs to add some muscle this off season! She would definitely benefit from that!

Now that we have other stars on the team Ashley needs to retool her game to get away from having multiple shots blocked every game.
Agree. She was such a warrior down low, often double teamed, but its agonizing to see too many forced shots once in trouble.
Look, I know every player can't be a Paige Bueckers, but I would like to see a girl on this team who can drive the ball, but stop and pop a 12 ft. jump shot vs. driving into bigger post defenders or getting blocked by her defender. Is it just me, or does every guard or wing on our team either shoot a lay-up or a '3'? Not suggesting the mid-range shot is the be all-end all, but there are many times where it is open in our offense when we penetrate.

While mid range shots aren’t as common, Em shot them frequently. Ash would do it time and again…but the bread and butter of this team was deep or inside. Yes, Ash was blocked once in a while, but more often than not if you saw a player get blocked it was a post. Ash really changed up her game the last three months of the season. Only when taking control was necessary (first round game) did we see her pound inside over and over. Otherwise we saw her do a fantastic job of dishing once she got doubled. If she got in trouble it was usually when another player wasn’t in position to take the feed. Her game has improved greatly this year, but as she herself said, there is still plenty of room to grow.
