First, in a completely meaningless fact, ISU is 7-0 all-time against Creighton WBB, with the last meeting in November, 2008 (ISU 63 - Creighton 59). I wonder why we don't regularly play them, considering the proximity and relative success of both programs?

ISU and Creighton WBB had five common opponents this season - ISU 5-0 & Creighton 4-1:

Omaha Ames - ISU 65-38
Omaha / Creighton - Creighton 71-51

SDSU Ames - ISU 75-56
Omaha - Creighton 67-55

Drake @ Des Moines - ISU 98-76
@ Des Moines - Drake 82-79

UNI Ames - ISU 70-69
Omaha - Creighton 79-72

Iowa Ames - ISU 77-70
Iowa City - Creighton 64-62

In the final NET Rankings (March 13), ISU was 9th (26-6) and Creighton 32nd (20-9).

ISU's six regular season (and conf. tournament) losses were to LSU, Baylor x2 and Texas x3 - all losses to NCAA tournament qualifiers;

Creighton's nine regular season (and conf. tournament) losses were @ Drake, @ Nebraska, USD, @ UCONN, @ Villanova, UCONN, @ Marquette, DePaul & Seton Hall (neutral court) - six losses to NCAA tournament qualifiers and three losses to NIT tournament invitees;

My conclusion: This shapes up to be a great game, with a pair of guard-oriented offenses getting after each other! Let's go State!

They are going to play Ashley Joens the same way they played Clark; very physically. Creighton played Iowa as a team and was the better team. We need to play team ball, swing the ball around, drive from multiple points on the floor and dish to open shooters. Flat-footed offense won't cut it.

Ashley can still lead us in scoring, but we can't expect to stand on the perimeter and let her create all game. She's going to get roughed up. IMO, they will use a majority of their fouls against her.

I think Diew should get used at the 5 for stretches. Creighton essentially plays a 5 guard offense and would draw Czinano (Iowa's center) out of the paint and force her to defend pic and rolls/pops, which Czinano is not good at. I think Kane and Jordao would be susceptible to this also, but Diew would give ISU a quicker defensive option.

Play as a team and we should win. Like coolerifyoudid said; Ashley doesn't need to do all. We have Lexi, Ryan and others who can score. Hope MEM and Aubrey can deliver quality minutes and points!

As I mentioned in the last game summary, Creighton is at a slight height disadvantage to us. They mirror our team in many ways statistically. they shoot the three. They aren’t as good at the line but they get there. They may try to get physical with Ashley, but she has more horsepower than Clark. Not worried about that aspect. Like Sunday the Sisters have to be hitting their shots and playing solid D.

The Big Three and the rest of the Sisters will be ready. Bill showed a coaching master stroke vs. Georgia and will have them prepared.
We roll- Cyclones 74 Jays 65.

Is Diew completely healthy? I always think she should get more play whenever she is in.

That worked really well vs UTA. Kane/Jordao played only 19 combined minutes because Diew was a better defensive option against their particular lineup.

I didn't watch Creighton at Iowa - it was beautiful Sunday and my wife ordered me on a 25 mile bike ride because I'd been a couch potato Thursday - Saturday. I read they ran three different players against CC in four minute stints, plus Bluder & Clark both opined they should have shot more free throws. Creighton doesn't appear to be very "big" so it must be a different kind of "physical" than the ruffians who bullied us from Texas, LSU & Baylor. Who do they compare to defensively, if anybody comes to mind?

I felt ISU moved the ball around nicely versus Georgia, as evidenced by Lexi - 20, Emily - 15, Ashley - 12, Morgan - 10 and Ny - 5. I think we're in a good place and that's considering we got ZILCH from Maggie, Aubrey & Bea. If those three step up, I like our chances. JMHO.

Once your in the Sweet 16 they are all good teams. I expect a close game and hope we come out on top.

Fortunately, we are not as dependent on Kane/Jordao on offense as EIU was with Czinano. And Ashley is much better than Clark around the basket and when double-teamed. The more I think about it, the more I like this match-up for us.

I'm struggling to find a good comparison to Creighton's defense since they don't really have a dominant inside force. Ronsiek is their inside game. She leads them in points and is adept at blocking, but we have faced much more physical inside play in the Big XII. I think Jordao and Kane will have opportunities as the game progresses.

Creighton swarms with a guard heavy team that rebounds REALLY well, especially for their size. They don't really get blown out because their second chance opportunities allows them to be methodical and dictate the pace. Outside of a 20 point loss to UConn, the rest of their losses have been 10 points or less. They are dangerous because they don't mind close games.

In the Iowa game, Creighton didn't necessarily disrupt passing lanes, but they clamped down on Clark whenever she touched the ball and everyone else once the ball got inside the three-point line. Also, Iowa transfer Lauren Jensen played with some extra motivation.

I think we'll fare better against them because we distribute the ball around the perimeter than Iowa. We should be able to stetch their defense and open up some passing lanes to the paint and utilize our inside-out game.

If we struggle hitting open shots early, they are going to get confidence and hang around. If we strike early, I could see this being a double-digit point win pretty easily (kind of the story of our year though).

Iowa is essentially a two trick pony. I like our chances with the diverse options we have on offense.

They are most similar to us.
