Have stayed there before. The ramp and the getting into the hotel situation is unique IIRC.
Yep, it's definitely a weird garage, I agree. But, $40 a day for self park here or $80 for valet at the embassy a block away! I'll take the weird garage.

Yeah I think there were like separate elevators and you have to walk thru something. I dunno, I just remember it being weird.Yep, it's definitely a weird garage, I agree. But, $40 a day for self park here or $80 for valet at the embassy a block away! I'll take the weird garage.
Want to go - but kid is 8 years old and not sure if she can handle the 9pm tip
I totally agree, you can't beat being there in person to cheer on the Clones. I've been to many games in the UC, and the upper part of the 300 level just seems very far away from the action. I know someone mentioned moving down after the KU game to empty seats, but the only problem you may have is that you have to take the escalators down to the lower levels, and I'm not sure the security guards will let you wander off into level 2. If you can do it, good luck. Either way, I hope we get a nice loud crowd to support the team. It’s a personal thing but it’s almost always more fun to be there in person.
Enjoy it! I've been lucky to travel around the last 25 years and see not only the Cyclones in the tournament, but other tournament games. My wife and I love college basketball. NCAA tournament games are a blast.Bought the tickets last night. First time ever for us going to a Cyclone men's NCAA game. We went to WFB for opening rounds a couple of times, and went to Hilton to watch the second half of each of the women's games this weekend after the men's games were over.
I'm so excited!!
We're retired now (retired a year or so before all the lockdowns began). This has always been our plan, to travel, and follow the team to the tournaments when we can. We made it to Maui, and to Battle4Atlantis, but then everything shut down.Enjoy it! IMO the reason why the UC gets a bad rap is because of the logistics since there really aren't many hotels that are close by.
Agreed! Spent my fair share of nights in the Damon/Division bar scene. If I'm going low key I'm hitting up the J&M Tap in the Ukrainian Village. We were actually just there visiting our friends who live just off Damon in Wicker Park and it took everything in me to not stop at Big Star for a couple tacos. In a city that is very walkable, the UC isn't in the ultimate walkable location.
It's unfortunately just a little too far from the closest green or blue line. If it was on the blue line it'd be perfect, a few stops from OHare, one stop form Wicker Park/Bucktown, 2 stops from downtown, etc...
in the 90s and even early 2000s the area was a lot more sketchy. I moved there in 02 and moved away in '15. It was waaaaaaaaay less scary by the time I left if you were out on a non-game night.
If we get lucky and have good weather...after a game if a cab/uber isn't easy I'd suggest just walking up Damen 20-25 minutes to Milwaukee intersection. Don't even need to recommend where to eat and drink, it just looks like a party all the time.

Hope ISU fan base steps up and gives this team some support in Chicago. I was surprised so few fans were in Milwaukee... Tickets were ridiculous but worth every penny. It was so cool to see all the players in the stands mingling with the fans for at least 15-20 minutes at the end of the game. Tyrese must of taken pictures with at least 100 fans including my 12 year old. The players all seem like they are genuinely good kids. Cyclone nation needs to make the UC Hilton east.
Bringing 4 down!Thought I'd start a thread to see who's going. Best areas to stay? Best place to hang out before the game and watch the early games?
i just bought 2 tix. behind the bench in the nose bleeds. $310 each after feesKU fans have already bought up a TON of tickets... Over $200 to get into the game. The UNited Center hasn't been kind to us in past years

Those two things should never be stated that close together in one statement.Mrs. just approved! I will be traveling with a Jayhawk, he's my cousin. But he's a super cool dude who also loves the Cyclone, I promise. LET'S PARTY.
We might!I won't be there but I have a message to those of you who are
Enjoy the hell out of it. There's 342 teams sitting at home next weekend wishing they were in our place.
We won't play a perfect game, but there will be plenty of excitement
Cheers
