Yeah I think there were like separate elevators and you have to walk thru something. I dunno, I just remember it being weird.

I totally agree, you can't beat being there in person to cheer on the Clones. I've been to many games in the UC, and the upper part of the 300 level just seems very far away from the action. I know someone mentioned moving down after the KU game to empty seats, but the only problem you may have is that you have to take the escalators down to the lower levels, and I'm not sure the security guards will let you wander off into level 2. If you can do it, good luck. Either way, I hope we get a nice loud crowd to support the team.
Bought the tickets last night. First time ever for us going to a Cyclone men's NCAA game. We went to WFA for opening rounds a couple of times, and went to Hilton to watch the second half of each of the women's games this weekend after the men's games were over.

Enjoy it! I've been lucky to travel around the last 25 years and see not only the Cyclones in the tournament, but other tournament games. My wife and I love college basketball. NCAA tournament games are a blast.
We're retired now (retired a year or so before all the lockdowns began). This has always been our plan, to travel, and follow the team to the tournaments when we can. We made it to Maui, and to Battle4Atlantis, but then everything shut down.
We enjoyed the opening round games we went to in the past. It just adds to the level of excitement for me having our team to watch!
In a city that is very walkable, the UC isn't in the ultimate walkable location.
It's unfortunately just a little too far from the closest green or blue line. If it was on the blue line it'd be perfect, a few stops from OHare, one stop form Wicker Park/Bucktown, 2 stops from downtown, etc...
in the 90s and even early 2000s the area was a lot more sketchy. I moved there in 02 and moved away in '15. It was waaaaaaaaay less scary by the time I left if you were out on a non-game night.
If we get lucky and have good weather...after a game if a cab/uber isn't easy I'd suggest just walking up Damen 20-25 minutes to Milwaukee intersection. Don't even need to recommend where to eat and drink, it just looks like a party all the time.
Agreed! Spent my fair share of nights in the Damon/Division bar scene. If I'm going low key I'm hitting up the J&M Tap in the Ukrainian Village. We were actually just there visiting our friends who live just off Damon in Wicker Park and it took everything in me to not stop at Big Star for a couple tacos.
I lived by the bucktown library near the main six corners. It’s a cool mix right now because it has some sports bars but also still some of the more counter culture and music clubs. I miss that neighborhood more than Chicago at large.
I will say it was awful surprising when us in the Victory Donor Level got the email last Monday that we were eligible for the NCAA Tournament tickets in Milwaukee. The Director Level donors didn’t even buy up the allotment. We got tickets in Milwaukee in the Upper Level, first row on the baseline. I suspect that may be different this week.

Parking in Chicago very well may be the single worst part of the city. The street meters should offer financing payment plans, when I moved away the meters were 50% more expensive than midtown Manhattan.
I’m always laughing in LA how I have major ptsd from Chicago parking for 12 years, still constantly paranoid about tickets and high prices. Parking in LA isn’t any more expensive than Des Moines.
Those two things should never be stated that close together in one statement.
Actually, on a personal level, I like the KU grads that I know.
