Down goes Iowa

As a youth in 1970's small-town central Iowa, I actually pulled for the University of Iowa. They were bad at everything except basketball, and Lute Olson was a good guy. I entered ISU in Fall, 1981 and the winning entry in the Towers Residence Association - Parent's Weekend - Window Painting Contest was "Eat **** and Die Hawk Bastards". Thus began my conversion, which was complete by January, 1982.

I've lived in Iowa City since 1998 and have great friends here, including university professors and medical doctors. They're wonderful people, except for when the hawks are playing, at which point they become big-mouth idiots just like the tavern hoks in my home town. In my opinion, they're one of the ten worst college fan bases in all of sports, blindly supporting a crew of mostly reprehensible coaches and athletics administration personnel. I glory in their losses, especially the painful ones, and hope this thread reaches a minimum of 41 pages to equal the number of years I've hated them.

Keep it going - Hawks Suck!

Damn.

Gotta respect the commitment here.

D-Bag HerkyFan has nothing on HR, so makes up a post asking how many times ISU has one a football conference championship. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures on his part. Keep being the douche bag you are on there. Even some other fans on there are tired of your schtick.
If I wanted to read HR, I'd go there. Running to CF to share what someone said over there feels little tattling on your big brother

My god, you are the quintessential little brother. I'm a cyclone fan you shitbrick

Wow! Someone sure is “agitated”. Resorting to name calling is what true hawk trolls are known for on here. Stay true big man and say hello to ignore!

You can’t expect Fran to dig that program out of the hole Lickliter created in 12 years. It’s going to take at least 13 years before you can make a S16 with how the program was after firing Lick.
Seems like an optimistic rebuilding timeline. Recruits are going still remember the Lick years, and you have to consider a typical recruitment is going to take 2+ years. Then those players have to develop a year or two. So really, making it to the Sweet Sixteen in year 20 or 21 is pretty much “on schedule.”

Iowa fans should be ecstatic Fran is this far ahead of schedule. They were only two wins away, after all.

Richmond ranked as the lowest team remaining, below 15 seed St. Peter's.

This is insane.
"John Calipari's salary ($8.5 million) is greater than the entire athletic budget of Saint Peter's ($7.5 million)."

Well, on HR, Kris and Keegan's dad is doing his part to keep the "blame the ball" narrative going. So, I guess we can expect the Hawkeye faithful to keep****ing that chicken for the foreseeable future.

So, what's the excuse list now?
- the ball was weird and it was more detrimental to Iowa than Richmond because... SMOKEBOMB!!!

- the 4 games in 4 days that Iowa played were totally different than the 4 games in 4 days that Richmond played. Unfair!

- Iowa totally got hosed by being matched up with a team that finished 6th in the A10 and lost to Drake.

- Fran was suffering from an acute case of pinkeye and wasn't able to properly see that the Hawks had an advantage in the post.

- Fran is a very literal man, and thought that the Spiders were actual spiders, triggering his arachnophobia.

anything else?

oh yeah, Pollard hosed them somehow.
You missed the ball was overinflated and the court was a rinky dink one drug out from storage and threw off the Iowa players.

My middle child graduated from Luther College in Decorah, which had more undergraduate students than St. Peter’s does. I was chuckling at the prospect of Luther defeating UK in hoops.
