Was following the game online from my dinner table in Ft Lauderdale. Don’t hate me, but I’m already sunburned! It was another amazing 1st and 3rd quarters from what I could tell. I’m just posting to give everyone a place to put up their impressions of what they saw. Fire away!

There were stretches when we didn’t score but our defense was amazing. Add the fact that we didn’t have Kane.

It was fun to see a team with players who can score instead of relying on one or two players.

Fire away is exactly right! Cyclones came out strong, making five straight threes early. Basically everything went well in the 1st quarter. Starting strong on the road is always fantastic.

Missing Morgan Kane lead to some strange-ish lineups. Nyamer was serviceable outside her comfort zone. Izzi seemed to play hard but the game may be too fast for her (freshman stuff, nothing unreasonable imo). Beatriz continues to play strong inside, although no big step up in minutes, she played 16. So Bill elected to play Diew at the 5 for a big chunk if the remaining post minutes. And what can you say, it worked! Team had some rough sections but hit big shots prior to the game getting too interested.

Really very impressed with this teams showing on the road against another tournament team. The only thing this teams resume is missing is a win against a top team. Take down Tech to set up a monster matchup with Baylor!

Did anyone catch who 2023 Jalynn Bristol picked? Was supposed to announce at 10 PM tonight but I haven’t seen anything else. Timing seems weird if she was picking us.

Nothing's out there yet.

I don't think the timing is weird -- she had the opportunity to announce on the news, so it's not like 8 or 9 was an option. There may have been a conflict at 6pm.

I actually thought Kansas might put up a real fight at home. I would have thought they would have felt a real urgency to take this one. But they seemed mighty flat. Their schedule is rather back-loaded. They could well lose all 4 of their last games. I sure don't see them beating TX & BU right now. Both of them are different teams than what they were just a few weeks ago. I guess what I'm trying to say is that KU's record before tonight may have been a tad deceptive. KSU also seems to be fading down the stretch. Anyone want to place a bet on who's gonna win the tourney in KC? I kid, I'm really not a gambler. I did enough of that trying to farm.

I agree - I liked Diew’s athleticism against Jackson in the post and I loved having five legitimate three point shooters on the court together. If only Ny had hit a couple more of those shots from the top of the key!

Her shots didn't miss by much...all were just a tad strong, but right on target.

sounded like she found the range in the second half?

She hit a pair of open threes midway through the 4th quarter during our final run that put the game away for good.
I love the way she competes. As Coach Fen says, “Find a way to impact the game.” Great opportunity last night for her to do that until the shots would fall. Those late 3s had me smiling big.

Kudos to her to keep shooting them. It's not like it is a stretch for her to be shooting them. So they weren't falling; keep shooting. I think the bench and her teammates were encouraging her to keep shooting them. Glad they did.

What a luxury to have a player who can play anywhere from 2/3 to a small ball 5. It really makes the switches easy when your 5 can guard any player on the floor.
