ISR March to Madness thread

With Rutgers moving up the NET ladder, their game with Iowa is now a Q1 for Iowa. Iowa lost so they are still 0 for Q1 but it is 0-6 not 0-5. Four chances remaining. I see one W tops out of those four though.

Depends on how you lose. Lose 96-90 with a mad push at the end in garbage time and you go up. People thought Fran was being ridiculous keeping rotation guys in blowing out Western Michigan or when the game is out of reach vs. Purdue and Wisconsin. But Fran has cracked the code.

I'm not even joking, Fran has figured out that a win is NOT a win and a loss is not a loss. We'll see how much it ends up helping with selection, but you can't tell me that high of a NET and KenPom will be completely disregarded on selection Sunday even if they end up 0-fer vs. quad 1.
You are on to something here. This also explains why Fran is no longer fuming mad when they lose games, unless it's a game they should be winning/competitive in. He has discovered the formula. The man is smart, gotta give him that.

Will see if they get one tonight. Doesn't seem like Michigan is a good matchup for them though.

The RPI used to piss me off....this isn't better. Shouldn't complain because it loves the Hawks.

I just like things to make sense though....

It seems for seeding the NCAA tourney that went out the window a while back. I've always wondered why the play in game teams don't get seeded 16th. I think they get seeded 12 or so don't they? Oh well I'll still watch in March and even pay more attention if the Clones are in it.

You would really be penalizing the 1 seed if you did that is the thought. If you're a 1 seed last year do you want to play Portland State or the winner of Michigan State vs UCLA?

I've always looked at it as the opposite the final 4 in should be the worst but once you put the AQs in I see your point.

The starters were all out of the game with 12+ minutes remaining in the second half against Western Michigan. I'm curious when you think they should have been pulled? Sitting them for an entire half doesn't really seem like a great idea. Iowa's bench guys played almost as many minutes as the starters. Fran never has Keegan, Jordan, etc. still in the game anywhere near the end of a blowout.

Keegan was supposedly hurt and was in the game in Hilton with Iowa down 21 points with 45 seconds to play

Bohannon was the only starter on the floor for either team at the end of the Wisconsin game. Wisconsin had two walk-ons in the game plus reserves who average 6.1, 9.7, and 10.4 mins.

That was a tough game for them to lose the other night. A look at their upcoming schedule:

I'm not sure their NET could really take too much of a beating though, given who they'll be playing, even if they actually do get beat for the majority of this stretch. 4 games in a week with the first one being Texas Tech is going to be brutal for them I feel.

It's going to be close. I could easily see them only winning one. That would put them right at the cutoff.

All those losses add up and I could see them dropping three spots for each one. A win at home vs wv doesn't move the needle much. And they still need to do even that.

Murray’s buzzer beater to end first half was insane vs Mich.

JoBo thought he was getting intentionally fouled and threw up a prayer heave to end the game when they had time to take an actual normal 3. I get what he was thinking, but still had to be frustrating for Iowa fans that Jorbo gets the ball instead of their star.

Honestly I bet the only win one game of that list, if that.

Figured that was going to be a tough game for Iowa because of Michigan's bigs but didn't expect Diabate to go off for that much! wow. The Murray's and Patrick missed about 20 layups or dunks. Murray is going to have to get stronger to score inside in the NBA.
