Tyrese Halliburton Article

I mean could this kid be more tender hearted? I hope he never loses that.

"Or I’ll be on an airplane and for some reason I’m thinking about how Ames, my dog, is gonna really, really miss his pal Rover, the golden doodle from next-door." This quote damn near broke my heart.

Tyrese is such a great young man and great basketball player. So glad he came through Ames and that I can watch him continue to blossom into having a fantastic career.

Thanks for sharing this.

Wasn't his trade prospects talked about for weeks? TH made it sound like it was all out of the blue.
Hope he successfully turns the page and does great with the Pacers.

He's barely legal drinking age, born in 2000. Yet, he's got the maturity beyond most of the senior players in the NBA. Such a great kid.

It was but I think the kings had said they were going to build around him.

My point was more that he hadn’t been corrupted by the business side of things yet. He was hurt because he had poured his heart into that team and it wasn’t just a job or a paycheck for him.

Also, I believe it has been reported (by Woj on an ESPN broadcast I think?) that other front offices basically assumed someone like Tyrese would be unattainable. He's the only 21 year old ever to put up the numbers he is, 14/7 and 40% shooting from three. It's fair to say that Tyrese probably was also under the assumption that he'd be a part of the King's future plans.

An ESPN (I think?) article earlier in the week said "everyone on the Kings except Haliburton is available." The assumption was that Haliburton was the better piece to build around than D'Aaron Fox. BUT the problem in the end, according a Sacramento Bee story today, was twofold: 1) other teams didn't want Fox's contract and 2) "keeping Haliburton and trading Fox likely would have meant parting with draft picks."

Going to have to check out the Pacers soon. They are now one of my favorite teams.

Best of luck to Tyrese. Love the guy.

The Kings are so freaking stupid.
Agreed.

How in god’s name does a struggling franchise let a kid with his skills and this attitude go for anything less than a franchise caliber player. It’s unreal.

Not only is his a special talent but he’s a special person. This is an incredible amount of emotional maturity for a kid that’s not even 22.

No doubt he’ll be successful in Indiana and wherever else he goes.

There are about 9 GMs in the league was kicking themselves in the ass for letting him go in the draft and now the whole bunch of them shocked Sacramento was even willing to deal him.

The amount of people with his skill level and willingness to stay and want to become the face of a terrible organization can probably be counted on one hand. And even then it might just be him. I really hope he goes on to become a perennial all star and whoever pulled the trigger to trade him regrets it every day. So, so stupid

I don't follow enough of the NBA but may have answered your own question here.

So much just bad management in pro sports

Funny you say that because I was actually thinking that when I wrote it. Maybe they’re struggling because they make decisions like this :). It’s a fair point.

The Pacers are really selling Tyrese as the face of the franchise. They have some young talent, but they need to add some more pieces to help him. I think Pacers fan will love Tyrese with his great personality and his great feel for the game.

The Pacers still have Malcolm Brogdon, it will be interesting to see if the Pacers deal him this summer now that they have Tyrese.
