Bofelli

Just a note, he is only 17. He won't turn 18 until near the end of his freshman year in football.

Mike Busch I believe. He was in the dodgers farm system if I remember correctly...don't think he ever made it to the big show other than maybe a call-up here and there, but thought he spent several years in minor league ball.
I know it's not really germaine to a thread about Bofelli, but Mike Busch played for the Dodgers during the players strike/lock-out. If memory serves correct. Don't think he ever made it to the show after that.

Only we never get the 5th best player from Texas we dont even get the 10th best TE from Texas. Most Texas players come here after Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Okie St, LSU, Arizona, Arizona St, Missouri, Kansas and now Baylor & Rice don't offer. Mostly we fight with SMU, UTEP, North Texas, Wyoming, New Mexico St and New Mexico for the leftovers. If saying we don't need Boffeli makes you feel better OK, but if you really think we don't need Boffeli or players like him from Iowa you are flat out wrong. I don't usually come right out and call some one wrong. Maybe you were being sarcastic if you were I am sorry. But some people out there believe that.

Im not wrong you are wrong buddy...ever hear of the great Jason Scales from that grate power valley high? Best player in this state and turned out to be brittle and injury prone and he was NOT good enough to make an impact in the big 12!!!

I say hello Texas recruits and goodbye boffelli!!!!:biglaugh:

He is a dominating run-blocking TE that would be a great center in my opinion. Simply put, there was not a tight-side DE in 4A this year that matched up with Conor in the run game.

I would love to see him in a Cyclone uniform.

Finally! A word from an unimpeachable source. As a fan, I'll brazenly say we need Conor and his loss would not be a good thing for our favorite program.

Coaches Bliel and Fountain have Conor's likely college positions (TE and OL) covered, right? That's gotta be a good thing. And Coach Rhoads will be there to nail down the deal (most of us hope, certainly).

Hey, Ben, I'm one of the fans here who would so much appreciate having your input/tutelage here. I'd much rather have you put me straight on this issue or that issue than wander off on a misguided tangent.

I think many of us here are hungry for accurate information, and your "coaching" of us would allow us to have a keen insight into college football, and ISU football in particular.

Hope you'll consider making contributions here more often. Think of it like your Valley coaching position -- doing good through volunteer work. We're just older kids, that's all (big grin).

Right, jason scales didn't make an impact for isu, so no iowa born kid will for any program in the state. That is reasonable thinking. Thanks for your valuable input. Great deductive reasoning. Any other recruiting ideas? I certainly can't think of any iowa kid that has made an impact in the college game or better yet has made it to the nba, nfl or mlb ever.

I believe the only way a university in iowa is going to have success is finding the diamonds in the rough. Those players that many times will play a different role/position in college than they did in high school. We need a % of our squad with these players and bank on some of them being impact players. We are not going to get all of the 4 and 5 star recruits. And anyway, 5 star recruits are not a sure thing. How hard did they work in high school to get where they were? Or were they just fast or huge and dominated with out really working hard? How is that type of player going to respond when the going gets tough and they are practicing with players that are their size and speed already?

Glad you're here, Ben - I've always appreciated your insight and hope we see a LOT more of you here on CF!

I think he played for the Dodgers in non-strike years as well. I'm going just off memory, but it seems like he was on the field for a few Dodgers games I went to.

He was in their system and a very highly regarded prospects. He even got to go to one of Lasorda's special BP's where Lasorda would take all the young power hitters to a back field and throw to them... Great guy with GREAT stories...

Wow Bruns - need an ego boost? Come to CF.

Haha. He'd probably post more often if he didn't have to spend so much time removing the lips from his butt afterwards!

At least we don't have to read hundreds of posts telling Rashon Clark's girlfriend how awesome she is anymore. :biglaugh:

Physically, Bofelli is a man among men and he is only 17. I would love to have him on board. I know he wants to play TE, but he would be a helluva lineman. Which means he would probably just go to Iowa.

Ben, ever thought about creating your own ISU football blog?

You'd be the gatekeeper, of course. Perhaps access could be gained through invitation only. Just a thought. . . .

Did you watch the Iowa game today they KILLED an SEC team with a lot of Iowa HS players. If you love Texas so much I think you can get a good deal on a house down there right now. Go Iowa HS players. By the way I hate the squawks and think our success will be their demise?

Other than Ennis Haywood name another RB from Texas who has produced more than Scales. I can name 10 RB busts from out of state though.
I know that we need out of state kids to win. You don't seem to understand that we will never be a power without the best Iowa kids.
