Best Sandwhich Spots in DSM

I'm going to drop a gem on all of you. Mekong Sandwich. It's a lady who sells Bahn Mi's out of the front of her house at 3308 2nd Ave, Des Moines. It's a legit business, she just operates out of her house. $4/per, so incredibly fresh.

This sounds like a front for an illegal business. I could swear I have heard this story before, sometime during the golden area of gangsters.

How do you turn a profit off that?

I promise it's legit. The "sandwich window" is completely sealed off from her home. It's a full kitchen she works out of.

I don't ask, I just eat 'em. Started grabbing them on the way up to tailgate. Throw some in the cooler for after the game.

As long as the house is in an area that is zoned for residential and business and the business can pass the health inspection I see nothing suspicious about it.

Manhattan Deli
South Union
B&B Grocery
Grazianos
Cheese Bar
Not quite deli but really good sandwiches...Francies on Fleur.

my in-laws own the CF location, been damn near impossible for them to find workers

My gripe has existed for 15 years, at least. Mostly it's just a joke between my wife and I.

I love Sub City, but for years it seemed every time we stopped at one they weren't open. Not due to a worker shortage at those times, but more because of the hours that were being kept.
