Do we have any news on who is opting out for ISU or Clemson yet?

It will be interesting to see who opts out. Clemson would certainly have more high profile guys than ISU. I saw somewhere that Charlie was going to play.

This senior class strikes me as the kind of guys that would hate to let each other down. That being said, no one would blame Breece for sitting this one out.

Hope he comes back, puts on 15 lbs, and blows up the NFL wearing purple.
There is a huge difference in pay between rounds 1/2 and rounds 3-5.

Even though Micah Parsons is absolutely blowing up, the "experts" will say Will McDonald is undersized.

They are probably almost identical in size, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Will run a 4.6 40.

I hope he comes back because I doubt the NFL would draft him where his talent and potential should dictate.

The experts are largely full of **** and aren’t any better at predicting the draft than anyone else

Maybe, but you are comparing the wrong things. The comparison is what you get with another year of wear and tear at the college level, compared to what you earn anywhere in rounds 1-5 of the NFL.

Big NFL money always comes with the second contract. Rookies want more guaranteed money, sure, but they also want an opportunity to play and stick in the NFL so they can make that big money later. Another year in college is also another year away from that goal.

Good analogy between Parsons (6'3") and Will.(6'4"). Both are around 245 lbs., and fast. Parsons was drafted in the 1st round last year by Cowboys. He's having a very good rookie season.

Was Parsons more highly rated than McDonald at this time last year? I hadn't heard of him until this year with the Cowboys (but that means nothing).

Maybe if Will doesn't think he'll go 1st round, he might be considering one more year at ISU, gain a little more weight still? Whether he plays oo opts out of the Clemson game will a big (or the) indicator.

Parsons was projected top 5-10 pick after 2019 season (his soph season). He sat out the 2020 season due to covid,

IMO the physical comparison is reasonable, but Parsons was an elite LB in college. He could cover TE's and get to QB's & RB's behind the line. So far McDonald has shown to be an elite pass rusher. A better comparison for McDonald might be Bud Dupree from Kentucky and played in NFL with the Steelers and Titans.

IMO the big question with McDonald- can he get up to 260-270 and be an NFL DE in a 4-3 defense? Or can he be a predominantly pass rushing OLB in a 3-4 defense at his current weight?

In the end, I hope he comes back next year. My guess his feedback from the NFL will decide.
