Cy-Hawk Dual

There was an annoying Iowa fan in the front row on the north side last night (somehow, not sure why). Aside from being ridiculous, he ran over into the middle of the coaches and wrestlers in the end just to act like he was somebody. What a tool.

Kyven Gadson is an example of how you act when you're legitimately tough and don't need to constantly try to prove how tough you are to everyone. He laughed off DeSanto's crap every time it happened, which oddly seemed like it was specifically directed at Gadson a couple times.

It would've pissed me off personally, but I've also never pinned Kyle Snyder, so I'm guessing it's a little easier to shrug these kinds of things off for him. He would stuff DeSanto into a locker 100/100 times, and they both know it.

When I did security, I was given advice about who were the tough actors and who actually were the badasses. The scowling, strutting type guy will fight and probably win plenty due to experience, but the badass is the dude who is smiling at all times and not too worried about stuff. They have the ability to destroy you. Those are the guys who do your best to reason with because you don’t want to tangle with. The chest puffers you just knew you were going to have to man handle them to get them to listen.

Yeah he was a douche

Lot's of interesting takes here. I'll make a few comments:

1) There WAS chippyness on both sides. ISU punching back at the bully actually set the Brands off and I love it.
A) 125 dominant to start the meet.
B) When DeSantos shoves Ram into the table, Ram responds with an elbow.
C) Redding with the takedown on Eierman.
D) Yonger's big win and celebration
* In years past, ISU just takes it and this year we showed some fight. Progress, even if it does bring some ugliness along with it.

I think this hasn’t gotten highlighted enough. Kyven did a FANTASTIC job given all of the factors he was dealing with during the broadcast. That easily could of gone south in a hurry and turned into an even bigger mess. Huge kudos to that guy for representing ISU well.

At the end of the day, we're not recruiting or developing at the level we need to to compete with the top end of NCAA wrestling. If this group continues to move in the right direction and the cards fall right in March, you could maybe, MAYBE see a top 10-12 finish, but we're not remotely close to being a top 5 team, and that's disappointing. I'm still behind the staff and want the best for the program, but it's disheartening for sure.
Just a reminder - if we want to keep closing the gap now is a good time to donate to the CRTC

Noob here so forgive me but is the CRTC really the only thing keeping us back other than performing at a higher level to get better recruits?

Do othe wrestling programs

Reminds me of the OU bathroom fight where the WR got lit up.

Probably Fellers....

Adam Fellers is an ex Iowa wrestler. He does some coaching at Sebolt. He is actually a pretty solid guy. Can't blame him for rooting on his alma mater. He is the one who stepped in between the two teams and got things somewhat calmed down.

Who is Adam fellers?
He is a former Hawkeye wrestler from Fort Dodge. Currently a coach at Sebolt. Very involved in the wrestling community and you often hear him with Willie Saylor, IA Wrestle, Stalemates, etc.
