Ferentz bashes player causing him to transfer

It’s a bad quote no doubt. I think he was trying to make light of the difficulty of playing a 3rd stringer on the road. But it’s a bad quote.

But to think he purposefully wanted a controversial quote out there, especially this week, all in the name of running off a kid who hasn’t played is silly nonsense.
When he played his 5th string walk ons for Running back, he would go with, that’s football, next guy in. Why does he not go with what he used over and over in the past and say, next guy in but instead basically say he sucks and we would be screwed?
 
It’s like saying “I’m not a racist, but….” Which is always followed up with a racist comment. So in this case, you can trash your player because you added the all important qualifier….
Like comparing complaints about racism to complaints about scrambled eggs?
