Not a single Cyclone ...

Remember how bad they were in December last year? And that was with Jiri, a senior, still around.

I always got the feeling that Jiri continued to forget he was big. Most games, it took him getting benched to convince him to play like a big man.

I agree with most of you that are saying that individually, most of the players are getting better. I will say that we are physically. We really need some people to improve between the ears (coach and players). Right now we don't have the ability to win games based on talent, so we need to play a lot smarter basketball.

he is already.

He's not even close.

Plus...Wes E's shot is wayyyy to low on his body when he releases. Gonna get alot of those thrown back in his face.

I like Wes E's mentality and he gives it his all while out there, but he is FAR from approaching what Jake was throughout his career.

If you are comparing to his shot alone then maybe. However total player no. Better D. Faster. Better passer. Quicker release.

Just my opinion.

Wes E. will be better than Jake Sullivan before he graduates.

You must not have ever seen Sullivan play. He may not have been the best defender but he could take over a game with shooting and EFFORT on both sides of the court.

-Peterson has improved the most IMO.
-Diante hasn't done much when the competition picked up. I don't want to hear about his big assist night against Drake. Lucca was hitting everything that night.
-Craig has shown minimal improvement from my view. He's still soft and takes bad shots. He's padded his stats in two games against inferior competition.
-Haluska hasn't done much. I expected more from him this year.
-Wes is an undersized (weight, strength, etc) freshman. Ideally he needed a redshirt year IMO. He's doing the best he can.
-Thompson is Thompson. Looks lost at times, makes some nice hustle plays.

Overall, not a ton of improvement on the surface but there are other factors contributing to it such as our offensive "system."

You can't really improve all that much when only 2 or maybe 3 guys are Big XII caliber players.

Agreed. Except I think it's 3. Lucca looks at times like he MIGHT be a Big 12 player. Offensively he can shoot. Not gonna rag on him until his knee heals up. CB and DG for the other two.

I see a lot of individual improvement across the board with these guys, and I think the overall team talent level has improved as well, and will continue to do so. I think the guys are still struggling a little to gel, but teams with a lot of young/new players almost always do. If we can hold onto everyone, and add the great recruits we have coming in, we will be just fine.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why McDermott had 3 walk ons in the game in the last 7 minutes when we were down. (Petersen, Haluska, Lee) They can't be our best options for a 5 minute stretch when the game is on the line. Lee walked away from being set during a free throw after the free throw shooter had been handed the ball. The guy made it anyway but that was a bone head play that could have let them have another shot at a free throw if he missed. How do you convince your fans you are trying to win with a trio of 6 foot walk ons?
Because they are our best defenders right now. That's why they were in. Cam is great on defense, not so much on offense.

Just sucks that during crunch time of games we have like 4 walkons on the court sometimes. In the third year of this program that is the best that we can do? This team has gotten so unathletic over the the past year. I really don't see any future for Cyclone basketball and that is what is troubling.

I guess I just hoped that our scholarship freshman would be able to outplay some of the walkon.

What a way to show the players that you support them and their efforts...this post is DISPICABLE!!!!!!! You do realize that quite a few of the players are out on the internet a lot and more than likely see internet forums like this one, or even this one for that matter. Do you want players to leave? Do you want them to think that the fan base is against them?

I hope the players who read this see through the crap being posted as coming from non-supporters and a very small minority of negative ninnys who have nothing better to do than sit behind their computer screen and gripe. Grow up people! Either support the program or be the bandwagon jumpers that you should be and go be a Squawkeye fan.

For any players reading this...you have 2 alumni here that back you and your coach fully no matter what...and there are a whole lot more like us than the posters here...because we areTRUE CYCLONES!!!!!!

Of course we all want them to succeed. I just watched their effort in the SDSU game. Time to win back my respect.
