before everyone goes nuts, go take a look at the last two years of when le was here. gmac won more games his first two years than le did his last two showing the program has been in dismal shape for years.

how many realized that? sit back and support our team.

It's not an easy process. GMac is willing to work this thing back into shape. Getting into shape involves some "discomfort" along the way. We're there right now, and none of us like it.

The destination is worth the journey, but the journey involves the pain.

Thats fine but you are forgetting the Morgan years when we went to a NIT final 4 and and NCAA tourney appearance with a win before losing to the National Champs in the 2nd round who had 4 lottery picks on that team.

I vote to Banish Cyguy33 from the basketball forum starting now and continuing through the next season.

Reasoning being is he has shown me nothing to indicate that he is a person who has reason and he has shown no improvement towards getting reason. So, he should be fire . . . I mean banned.

if wayne was still the coach we would be under probation and wouldn't have been able to hire any coach at all to come in and bail us out. wayne had one good year but that was after a 0-5 start in the conference remember. people wanted him fired at the time as well.

But his style of coaching laid the foundation that led to the mess of the next season, with the inmates running the asylum.

Inmates? This cracks me up. One (legitmate) word is uttered about Eikmeier or Peterson or McDermott and everyone rushes to their defense...yet Morgan and his former players get trashed at virtually every opportunity. And frankly, those guys (at their very worst, probably) would run any one of McDermott's ISU teams right out of the gym.

This is two and a half years later, people. Im not saying that anyone needs to be fired, but there is definitely reason for concern at this point.

I've said a few times that it doesn't make me happy, either, and agreed that we need some kind of leadership from somewhere.

The point is that people jump to the worst conclusions after a horrible day. If we lived our lives like this, we'd spend our lives with cardiologists.

There's concern, there have been signs of improvement and inconsistency.

Morgan's team probably wouldn't run Mac's team out, because he didn't back then.

I'll admit it....I'm pissed and shocked after the happenings of last night's game. Since when did we drop to a point where we had to worry about teams like SDSU. However, even though this is a talented group of players. We need to remember that we have a team composed of over 90% freshmen and sophomores. That is a YOUNG team that is still learning about what it takes to bang around with Division I sized players.

I do feel that Gmac needs to do some dirty work with the post players down low. Pull a Tom Izzo and put them in football pads and kick the crap out of them down by the rim.

At this point, my only comfort is knowing that our 2000 team lost to Drake and nearly lost to Morningside that year. My Christmas wish is for Brackins and Buckley to develop into the 2nd coming of Fizer and Tinsley.

Let's avoid the fire Gmac talk until he shows that he's unable to produce with this same team when they are juniors and seniors! If that happens, then I'll be convinced he's not Big XII material, but until then we have to ride the wave. If we don't, we start all over with this miserable process!

So Wayne gets one season where things go wrong and he doesn't get a chance to prove he learned from his mistakes but GMac we should give more rope to?

Please not the Wayne Morgan train again. Wasn't he 15 - 16 in his last year after those first two "spectacular" years? It would seem that he was regressing rather than progressing - and he didn't have the attrition that Mac did.

actually, Morgan lost fewer games and had a better conference record in his second year than he did in his first. The loss of significant role players in the post contributed heavily to him showing a regression in his team in the third year. This was not helped by the fact that Sean Taggart caught a very nasty case of the flu before the season started and ended up vomiting himself to 15-20 lbs under weight and undoing all the work that had been done in pre-season practice.

Morgan continued the long line of Nance, Orr, Floyd, and Eustachy, all of whom showed improvement in the second season of their tenures. McD was the one who broke that trend, not Morgan.

And before you bring up attrition, I will point out that Orr kept 2 players from the year before. Floyd posted his best season following the loss of 4 of his 5 starters and 99% of his scoring/rebounding.

Do I think that Morgan should have been fired? Yes, but not because his coaching wasn't getting the job done on the court, but because his leadership was leading to a program in shambles off the court. Do I think McD is the guy to rebuild? Obviously not. I didn't think so at the time, and I don't think he is now.

I hope I'm wrong, though.

1) Larrys last two years he had 29 wins(12 & 17). Mac had 29 as well though he played more games total. Larry also had an NIT.

2) Wayne was 20-13, 19-12, and 16-14. No losing seasons.

3) Wayne's firing was coming, but I also said I thought he should have one more season to see if he could turn it around.

I always felt Coach Stinson could win a playoof game in the conference. I do not have the feeling with this goup. We are like Colorado two years ago and maybe this year. Lots of players with little being accomplished.
