Everyday “traffic” has become worse in Ames. Partly because Ames drivers are idiots. Partly because students think skateboards are street legal. Partly because Ames has some bizarre hatred for frontage roads. Partly because the city refuses to time any traffic lights on thoroughfares because heaven forbid someone wait more than five seconds to turn right onto Lincoln Way.

Weird that having 60,000+ at a football game would create major delays with traffic.

I mean its fair to expect some delays, but most of us aren't new to this, so when you see people complaining, its not just them complaining about normal delays, but that its worse than normal. The situation getting out of the stadium this year, at least from where i've been at, has been the worst i've ever seen. I couldn't even move from my parking spot, much less out of my lot, for 30+ min after the game last night.

Leaving the game Sat. had a skateboarder wipe out in front of me in front of the M.U. I stopped and was going to let him get his board but he waved me by. Damn it looked like it hurt when he went down but he bounced right back up.

Haber Road is down to one lane for a section, jammed up the entire Ames traffic pattern.

of course, it has always been one lane going under the railroad bridge but have to blame someone/thing.

Tried to go on Lincoln Way East of Dayton Sat night after came and it was closed. Is there construction between Ames and Nevada?

DC. The traffic in Dallas Center is always bad. Move to Grimes...

It was way too wet this summer for construction, remember? Oh...wait.
A lot of construction projects have been running behind this year due to delays in getting manufactured materials. Most likely as a result of covid.

Yes. City is putting in water/sewer along East Lincoln Way and a water tower at the corner of E Lincoln and Teller (580th). Will be closed for 8 months.

Yeah I 100% agree with this. Jack Trice has a lot of ways you can leave from and the new parking/traffic group has done a terrible job managing it. I'm also surprised how little support Iowa State is getting form local law enforcement. For example, I typically leave the south 16th grass lots and go towards Duff and it's never been an issue but this year traffic is backing all the way up to the lots. How do they not have a couple police officers directing traffic at 16th and Duff? There are maybe 6 or 7 cars that are able to make the right turn when it's green so everything just stacks up. I assume the traffic leaving the HF and G7 are running into the same issue at SE 4th and Duff too.

More people have found the DOT parking lot this year, but it's still not that full. Love parking there; lots of options to get in and out without too much headache.

Also, the Grand Ave extension is really beautiful. Love driving thru the golf course.
