I am looking at new tvs and wondered if anyone had an opinion on OLED. Is it worth the extra money?

I have a Sony OLED and it’s been worth it. Also have a TCL QLED that is pretty good but there is definitely a gap. If the money isn’t a big deal then do it.

I have read they do better in darker lighting. So might want to consider where you put it. Ours is in our basement. It is phenomenal.

I've got ours in the living room. It replaced a Samsung LED and I have had no issues with the brightness. Maybe an issue if you have a really bright room, but I think most places will be perfectly fine.

We are happy with our 55" OLED TV. I would say worth it if this is the centerpiece of your sports or movie watching experience. Probably not worth it if this TV will be relegated to your spouse watching the Price is Right and Judge Judy.

The key difference is blacker blacks, and no section based black lighting. This guy's channel has some good comparisons

We have a 78" LG OLED and the picture still makes me take notice from time to time. The main advantages, as others have said, are true blacks, dark scene performance, color balance, and completely uniform picture across the entire screen.

After the experience of our current LG LED TV, I wouldn't purchase another product from them at all, they didn't even know who they had for repairs under warranty in the area and when we finally found the one guy who did, I was his last LG warranty repair because he was tired of how much of a pain in the ass LG was to deal with constantly as well.

Agree. This is true for all LG appliances too.

I went into costco with plans to buy something else. Once I was able to see the LG OLED side by side, I bought the LG OLED and have been happy. Keep in mind that it's only as good as the content you provide.

Unlike some others, I've been happy with everything I've bought from LG. CR says my washer/dryer are the most reliable made.

ours is in a very bright room with south facing windows and is superb.
Good to hear. I dont remember exactly why it was that it said that. Dont recall if it was the lack of back lighting, or if it was because the main thing avout the tvs is the true black which is less noticeable in bright spaces (not sure that is even true). Either way they were the top rated tv in consumer reports, and they look amazing. Was the best looking tv at best buy, but we purchased from Costco as it was 50 bucks cheaper (which basically paid for the membership) and came with a $100 hulu card.
