Let's talk basketball!!

My biggest take on the game was that Ham seemed to have an innate sense of where to go when Diante was driving. Seemed like last year guys would stand and watch and leave Diante stranded. Ham moved to the right spots and good things resulted for both of them.

I've noticed that. I've loved his positioning on the floor for a freshman.

We will make the NIT at least this year.

This team barely beats some of the worst teams in in Division 1 basketball while playing in Hilton. They consistently let teams back into the game after taking double digit leads. They aren't going to win very many big 12 games, much less make the NIT.

On a positive note, I think the team can be good. They just need something that they don't have. Maybe a Wesley Johnson. They just need to continue improving and continue working towards next year. I hate the "next year" thing, but oh well.

Brackins needs to get stronger and tougher, and he needs some help inside. I think he will have that as some younger players continue to learn. They also need to impove on rebounding. They rebounded pretty well this time, but they played a really small team.

...If we have a 10-15 point lead, go to a zone, it forces the opponent to take 25 to 30 seconds of the clock.[/quote]

Thats a pretty good point.

I know a win is a win, we have a young team, coming off finals, ect. but god this team is boring to watch. I love Iowa State basketball, and it has always been my favorite thing to follow of all sports on all levels, but these guys are kind of hard to watch. I am sure it didn't help playing in front of 6 thousand people last night, but I couldn't help but flip through the channels during the game. A guy can only watch 6 entry passes in CB before he throws up a turnaround jumpshot so many times before he goes insane.

I hope that as McD brings in more athletes he can altar his system to provide for a little excitment. This offense, which I relate to parks and rec basketball when you had the one kid who hit puberty earlier than everyone else whom you were directed to pass it to every time down the floor, is really hard to watch, and in my opinion will prove to be very very unsuccessful in B12 play.

After watching Texas play MSU yesterday IMO we don't have one player that would start for either team. Before you say CB keep in mind that both Texas and MSU place a big emphasis on hard nosed defense. That alone would put CB in a backup role. We need a big infusion of quickness hopefully Colvin and Gilstrap will help in that area next season. Unfortunately I don't see many wins in Big 12 play but I'll still be in Hilton cheering and hoping I don't know what I'm talking about..

CB may not be "hard nosed" but the guy can play defense and yes offense is his game but I would rather him play off a little down low so he doesn't pick up a stupid foul....I didn't see him play bad defense last night once...CB would likely start on any team in the country right now!

DG is a very under rated point gaurd as well, he is getting around 11 and 7 every night and he has won TWO games for us this year. One at UNI when he scored the first 5 or some points in OT and then last night when he had about 6 points in the final 5 minutes when they were making a run...

As long as we are talking about basketball...did anyone else hear CyGuy33 just get called out on Soundoff?
