Thoughts on remaining Big 12 schedules

Baylor- The Bears surprisingly have a pretty favorable schedule ahead. They’re 4-1 and only have two road games left on the schedule, at TCU on 11/6 and at K-State on 11/20. They get Texas and Oklahoma both at home and have a bye week before playing the Longhorns. If they were to lose at home to West Virginia next week though, suddenly the remaining schedule looks a lot tougher because up next is BYU, Texas, at TCU, and Oklahoma.

Iowa State- Of our final seven games, only three are at home. Every game is huge. No more gimmes.

Kansas- Can the Jayhawks get a conference win? I think their best shots are Texas Tech in two weeks and West Virginia the last game of the season.

Kansas State- I know they’re 0-2 in the Big 12 but they scare the crap out of me, especially with Skylar Thompson back. They have the best non-conference resume in the league with dominant wins over Stanford (who just beat Oregon) and Nevada (who just beat Boise State). If they beat us, they have a very manageable schedule before a game at Texas on Black Friday. Texas Tech, Kansas, and Texas are their remaining road games.

Oklahoma- Are they a paper tiger? Their four FBS wins this year have come by 3, 5, 6, and 7 points. I kind of think they’ll lose to Texas and then get better in a hurry against TCU, at Kansas, and Texas Tech before getting at Baylor, Iowa State, and at Oklahoma State in November.

Oklahoma State- Their remaining schedule is pretty tough. Only three home games left and one of those is against Kansas. That said, if they win one of the next two games at Texas or at Iowa State, they have a shot to make it to Bedlam with only one loss. Bedlam is in Stillwater this year.

TCU- I’m not really sure what to make of them. Like Oklahoma State they only have three home games left and one of them is Kansas. Their game at Texas Tech next week is a must win. If they lose they’ll be staring 2-4 right in the face with a trip to Norman coming up.

Texas- The next four games are going to tell us whether Texas is for real. They get Oklahoma in Dallas, Oklahoma State at home, a bye, and then road games at Baylor and at Iowa State. I think they can go 3-1 in that stretch and still make the conference title game.

Texas Tech- They’re not a conference title contender but they’ve got a really good shot of being a bowl team at 4-1. They have four home games left and one of the road games is at Kansas. If they win at home against TCU next week they’ll be 5-1 with Kansas up next. After that is Kansas State at home and you would figure Tech has a decent shot to win that one. They’re a team to watch because they could get on a bit of a roll.

West Virginia- The Mountaineers have looked pretty decent at times this year but with the home loss to Tech they’re in uh-oh territory. They’re 2-3 and have at Baylor, a bye, and at TCU before their next home game against the Cyclones. They need to win at least one of those road games to have any realistic hope of going to a bowl game. I’m scared of our trip to Morgantown either way.

Next two games for us are big games against teams that have had this staffs number. If OSU keeps winning they will be in the 10-15ish range, beating K State and them could get us back in the top 25 and the big 12 would be there for the taking.

Take out the worst team (KU) and the 2 teams who appear to be the best right now (OU and Texas), and I think the other 7 are all about equal. I think ur going to see a lot of 6-3 to 4-5 teams at the end of the season.
It’s weird because it’s OU and you have to take them down to remove them from the top spot but are they in the top-2 right now? I guess since they haven’t lost and have found ways to win and that’s what matters. We will find out more next week with OU, but Oklahoma State has looked better the past couple of weeks. Their defense has been quite good and the reason they didn’t lose one of those first three games when they were slow out of the gates.

If we sweep October we would easily be in the top-25. There will be many ranked teams losing because this year college football is just a lot of mediocre to good teams aside from Bama and Georgia who have clearly separated.

OK State defense is salty. They will give us fits. We'll have to throw it to beat them.
Not sure what to make of Texas Tech. You look up and they are 4-1 and can't quite figure out how.
K State will always give everyone a dog fight. HUGE game down there in two weeks.
WV needs a reliable QB
TCU is kind of a mess, but still dangerous with Duggan. Glad they are coming to our place
Don't know who to root for OU/TX. Leaning OU because we get the whorns at home
This can still be a dream season if ISU somehow gets to Dallas and wins the game this year.

We'll be slight favorites vs KSU but I think sharps will view that game as the wrong team is favored.

Hope I'm wrong but not real confident we go to Manhattan and get that win. Both teams coming off bye weeks so teams should be about as healthy as they can be at this point.

If we beat KSU and Okie st...we will be in the Top 20 maybe even higher honestly..

I said a week ago that the @KSU game will determine how the season goes. If we lose we prob are a 7-5 team ish.. If we win I like our odds at 9-3 and a shot at big 12 titel game..

I'm actually glad KSU just played OU bc we now have a good game tape on Skylar and KSU offense with him..

He does have 2 weeks to get healthier but I didn't see alot of Skylar running the ball vs OU.

We have a better defense than OU....@KSU game will be huge for ISU.

Since the beginning of the season its felt like teams 2-9 are about equal. Only change I'm making is Oklahoma looks more vulnerable than I thought. Team will need to show up every week, especially on the road.

I see OU going 7-2. I see a path for us to 7-2 with a slip up either at OU or at home vs TX. Barring another team ending up at 7-2 and having some kind of a tie breaker, it’s a rematch in Dallas.

ISU v KSU…one of the biggest program games we’ve had. Measured against the expectations of this season…you need this game after what happened against Iowa and Baylor. It’s on the road.. a place CMC never has won, Thompson back at QB, a must have win for KSU after being 0-2. A loss would be a devastating
