How far can Iowa go?

I would say about 12 actually. They beat two way over ranked teams to start the year and then didn't look very impressive against CSU and Kent St.

Same question for you, what 11 teams would put ahead of Iowa? I don’t see them any lower than 8th. While they haven’t looked good offensively, they haven’t been in danger of losing any of their games either. I understand that ISU and Indiana haven’t looked good but I think the ISU win will look better in 4 or 5 weeks.

What 19 teams would you put ahead of them? (This should be good…)

He might have a point. Beating a overrated ISU team isn't very impressive on the resume any longer. The * COVID bump ISU got is long gone now.

What I do know for a for sure, is the ISU offense will look much better against Big12 defenses than it did vs actual defenses like Iowa's. No way will Purdy and Hall be held to 208 total yards and be forced into 4 TO by Big12 defenses. That must be nice hitting conference play and you don't have to worry about playing good defenses any longer.

I'd have Iowa swap with OU so at 6.
If Cincy or Notre Dame looks really good against the other one I'd put them at 5. I think NDs oline is really banged up.

ISU overrated? yes

Yet Iowa is milking that victory over ISU in the polls--with voters

Iowa #5? because of their road victory over ISU..

Colorado St, Kent St, Indiana, Nebraska, Illinois, Rutgers, NW are garbage

When does Iowa play Michigan, Michigan St., Ohio St ?

This is shades of Iowa's MBB season last year---hang around @ #5 forever because of other Big 10 teams are ranked on their schedule---then the BIg 10 TANKS in the NCAA's and Franny yet again can't make it out of the round of 32

Now that the hoks will be playing all world defenses in the Big 10, who would you rate better than Iowa State's?

Iowa jumped more spots in the AP poll after they beat Indiana at home than they did when they beat a top 10 ISU on the road.

The same can likely be said for Iowa. It much be really nice to play in a conference where the offenses are so inept. It would take a significant regression by the Iowa defense to give up anymore than 21 points to any of their future opponents.
Only a single opponent (Maryland) left on Iowa’s schedule averages over 6.0 yards per play and is ranked in the Top 45 in yards per play on offense in the country.
On the flip side 4 of Iowa State’s remaining opponents average 6.0 or more yards per play on offense. Honestly after seeing how bad the offenses for the Big 10 are it would be shocking if Iowa doesn’t go 11-1.

Nice try but the week Iowa beat Indiana the eight teams immediately ahead of Iowa in the AP poll went 3-5 and those three winners had an average score of 32-15. The week Iowa beat ISU the eight teams immediately ahead of Iowa in the AP poll went 6-2 and the winners had an average score of 44-9. Iowa moved more in the AP poll because more teams ahead of them **** the bed that week.

Because we all know that it is just as easy to go from #18 to #10 as it is to go from #10 to #5.

Penn St and Wisconsin’s defense is better than ISU’s for sure.

I can tell you whose defense is not better than Iowa State’s……Maryland. The Terps gave up 5.3 yards per play to West Virginia and 5.7 yards per play to Kent State. When they got to face a Big 10 offense (Illinois) it reduced to 4.7 yards per play as expected.

ISU's Yards per play vs Iowa was like 4.8 and even worse when ISU was playing Purdy and Hall. ISU's yards per play was 6.56 vs the Baylor. The sad thing is Baylor is the 2nd best defense in the Big12.

ISU's offense is going to look lights out playing cupcake defenses in the Big12 from here on out. Heck on Saturday ISU gets a play against a defense that is ranked lower than UNLV's D.

Yet, Illinois came the closest to actually beating them. A lot more to the game than just offensive yards per play. Score does matter too.

I think Notre Dame would deserve to Leap Iowa if they beat Cincinnati for sure. I think Iowa should be ahead of Oklahoma though. It will all come out in the wash for Iowa either way these next two games so I’m not really concerned about where they are today.

I know you have trouble reading but PSU averages 6.46 yards per play.
