Noah Shannon will be toughest defensive tackle ISU has faced since Jared Brinkman in Week One

I have no idea who he is. Guessing he is from Iowa, if so, no way I can change it and I enjoy the thread.

In HS I played against brinkmans dad, he was a senior and I was a freshman. Those situations don’t usually go well for the freshmen.

RIP. Freshmen become seniors eventually so I’m sure things got better though!

How did Brinkmans dad compare to some of the other prolific players you faced in HS?

Decent. He was at a very small school so he was asked to do too much which generally leads to gassing them out. Then the opponent thinks they really aren’t that good. Saw the same thing when I changed HSs. A player (who was an AA at UNI IIRC) was on the smallest HS in the conference and was running all over the place. Hard to tell how good they were in those situations.

There are always some that you think are really good and they flame out and others that totally surprise you by what they become. Work ethic is huge at 2A/3A sized schools.

Everyone is worried about defenses and defensive players.

My concern is that the Iowa Marching Band will be the douchiest band we have faced since the last time we faced them. I am hearing they are absolute monsters and the tuba section has really blown up. In fact, they turned away tuba players this year because the tuba room is LOADED.

If our band can get out of this game without an injury or undo mental anguish, we will be lucky.
