IOWA STATE TO BIG TEN?!? Dave Wannstedt thinks so.

Even dumber, considering you think anything anybody says means anything whatsoever until the issues with UoT and the SEC have been settled.
Well some are reporting that invites are coming relatively soon which will most likely predate OuT’s exit from the conference.

I guess time well tell.

People report all kinds of crap. Keep reporting it and it will be true sometime.

And those are just as premature. If ISU ends up with an invite to the Big 10, it's not coming until after that other stuff is sorted. Nobody wants to get caught up in that mess, whether it's a conference attempting to pillage Big 12 teams or teams wanting to get into the Big 12.

It didn’t stop OU&t

You guys are getting Q level here. Too much smoke for this to be all some elaborate scheme to extort TX/OU. It looks like expansion happens and we will see where it goes from there.

If actual invites go out, then there may be something yesterday's release. If not, then I'd say there is still a lot of things to figure out before expansion is the direction. I still don't think anything happens until OuT make their 2022 and 2023 intentions clear.

When do you think it happens? Why is this different than 2017 when there was equal smoke?

I just don’t think anything will actually happen for a while.

Announcing now would be like burning an enormous pile of cash for absolutely no reason.

I really want to believe the theory that half the conference secretly has landing spots, but do you all really think that BYU/Cinci/UCF/Houston would jump without serious contractual assurances that the conference lasts beyond 2025?

Don’t care. We’re either going to the Big 10 or Pac 12, or the pac 12 is going to get Big 12’ed and nothing matters at that point.

Have BYU/Conci/UCF/Houston jumped yet? Even those names are all speculation at this point. All we know is that there has been discussion of expansion. I agree that these teams wouldn't come without long term assurances, but that process won't start until a move date is determined for OuT. There is no way in my opinion that those teams are in the conference with OuT, even for a short period.

Teams could be added. Still won’t mean anything unless ISU signs a new GOR. Maybe the new 4 remain in a conference with the leftovers that don’t get a P4 invite. Would still be a step up for the additions being mentioned, especially if the new Big 12 keeps P5 status.

I wondered this same thing. These four combined with 6 (in a scenario where we and Kansas left for the Big 10) would remain a formidable conference.

If this expansion happens. The GOR will answer a lot of questions

Do you think other schools would join the conference knowing that not all members will sign a new GOR? There’s no way.

I have been told to expect a composition clause allowing certain schools to leave. This currently exists in the AAC, for example.

That’s the key - the GOR - not the addition of teams. I’ll hold out hope until ISU signs and iron clad GOR. Anybody else wonder why us and KU have presidents on the search committee? Why not Pollard?

If this is what is actually happening, then it means that every single option is on the table - expansion and numerous other teams leaving.
