Recruit signs $1.4 million deal

maybe it is because I am old, but who is paying for an autograph from a kid that has never played a down of CFB. Seems ridiculous to me

I realized I was old during the NFT craze. I can understand an autograph as that's an actual thing. So he has rights to his likeness, but can he sign tOSU jersey's or anything licensed by the school?

Still not sure how all this crap doesn’t ruin college football.

As an ISU fan..... I can tell you..... it already has ruined it. We are staring right into the face of not being relevant at all in college athletics at all. If we don't get an invite to B1G or the PAC 12.... that very well could be the case.

You're 18. Star football player. Millions coming in. Are you worried about grades and staying eligible?
Pretty sure this is what SEC is trying to avoid so they will break off and "relax" the eligibility rules.

Hot take: This movement towards paying athletes and creating super conferences will result in lesser interest from fans in CFB nationwide and the pool of money will actually decrease in the near future.

College athletics is about hope; if you remove hope from non blue blood fan bases they are going to stop watching.

As long as rich boosters/businessmen want to see their favorite teams win they will keep buying players for their schools.

I can't wait for one of these million dollar baby's to split town or end up amounting to nothing in college. Then these dudes to to get their money back.

If you are over the age of 12 and asking for an autograph you’re a creep. If you 35 and asking for 17 year olds autograph you should seek help.

I think it’s situational… Wouldn’t say all circumstances fall into this bucket.

So if we scrape together 1.5 we could get him here! Which we should have done while he was in high school.

"... Ewers was the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2022, but he decided to bypass his senior season and enroll a full year early at Ohio State in order to capitalize on the marketing opportunities ahead of him. ...."
I haven't read any articles on this kid. Did he graduate high school or is that not a requirement to get a scholly at college anymore? I see kids leaving a semester early but a full year? Unless they planned to all along and loaded up in 9th, 10th, 11th grade, how did he get enough credits?
