Thursday Afternoon Coaching Search Update

We are not in THAT bad of a position this year. There is only 1 BCS coaching job available and that is us! We are in THE premier conference as viewed by the majority of national sports writers and outlets. We are a stepping stone job but that should be a good thing. Lure a coach in here with aspirations of moving up. To do that they will have to win first. Chiz was a fluke hire by a scared Auburn administration getting turned down left and right.
If any coach in the country is wanting to make a move this year than ISU is their ONLY choice.

For those reasons alone, I know we can do better than a guy who is generally thought of as a dumb jock.
 
Patterson to ISU....Gill to TCU

Could it happen? Gill is from Ft. Worth.

I'd rather have Gill of the two, but Patterson would still be a steal.

I get that there are better jobs than ISU, but a any halfway salesman (and I believe JP is a good one!) has a lot to sell at ISU. We know the problems, so I won't repeat them here, but mention that so you don't think I am just Pollyanna. What do we have to sell?
1)Lot's of returning (hopefully!) experience with some good young talent.
2) BCS job - some say poor but it IS a BCS confernce job.
3) 7 figure salary opportunity
4) Decent facilities with a plan and funding in place to further upgrade
5) One of a few positions available.
6) A supportive AD.
7) Chance to play and coach agains the best (some actually want that!)
8) Chance to be on TV a lot.

and others.

So what is doing with all of this talent, because he sure isn't winning very much with it. Is he just another version of Ron Zook?

Is there any evidence that we are even trying to get Patterson? How about any evidence that he would want our job? I suppose it is fun to dream, but there is too much speculation about Patterson based on nothing, as far as I know.

It could happen, but if you listen to the Marty Tirrell's of the world, we already have our next head coach in negotiations - Mike Stoops. Well at least that's what some random member of the Illinois staff is reporting to Marty. :confused:

By the way ISUno1fan, the girl in your signature is the hottest thing I think I've ever seen. And I'm not just saying that. She is a perfect 10. Nice find.

Sounds like a good deal to me - I guess Buffalo gets the "coach to be named later".
