Jon Miller has a new write up on realignment...surprising and worth the read.

I should probably hop in the bath and get cleaned up

So even if the Big 12 holds on to a bid we would be the equivalent of a one bid mid major basketball league. In the long run that won't be feasible. No one discusses how poorly we would get seeded either. That matters as far as advancing goes. The deck would always be stacked against the Big 12 in his scenario.
I think a likely scenario would be the Big XII champ would be seeded mid-pack behind the other conference champs most years but ahead of Group of 5 reps and lower wild cards. Not ideal, but it's something to work with. If they expanded to 12 and tried to keep the Big XII champ out, it would be an open and shut antitrust case.

Believe that would be the plan. And some have said we would have to pay our payout of $40-50 Million to the BIGif we join. And then have said we are to get reduced shares as well on top of that.

I had always thought that the only exchange was your reduced shares for X Years that the School joining received. Never heard that a large upfront payment was required as well. As well as reduced payments for years.
The reduced shares would be the buy in. Turning over the payout would reduce our reduction.

IMO we should keep our payout and then just get the reduction. Silly to give them the payout and then depend that they will give it back over time on top of the reduced payout to pay back what we paid them.

If I recall history correctly at the time Deace became a Cyclone no one was talking Cyclones. He was one of the first and only to attend ISU media days. He also called out Iowa b.s. snobbery when no one else would. Yeah, he was a fake Cyclone but he helped Cyclone athletics by giving them a platform. Hard to hate him for that.

Yeah, I don't get the argument. Does anyone think that Michael Swain at 247 is an ISU fan? Or Trey Scott before him? No. They did it because it's a job. Now maybe they grew a soft spot for ISU (Trey did for sure). But saying that ISU was Deace's second favorite team shouldn't make him the devil. He helped provide a microphone for ISU, a forum for discussion and didn't bow down to the hoks. In my book, that deserves at least some praise and at the very least no major criticism. And I definitely disagree with his politics.

That being said, if he really crapped on ISU on the way out, I didn't see it and that could change my opinion.

Its optimistic to think we would have much negotiation leverage at all if it came to this. We will turn over all of the OU/UT settlement share to the B1G if that’s the offer on the table.

If a woman asks you to watch The Notebook, never say no.

Also, Ryan Gosling is dreamy.

If your a dude, why say no. Rachel McAdams is pretty damn hot :D

If you think the movie is too sappy, just mention Rachel is great looking and wife and/or girlfriend may ask you to turn on pre-season NFL game. Wait, that might be more painful.
