What about McFarland as a candidate? I don't think he has been mentioned yet. Hopefully at least, he gets an interview. The man is already here and seems to be providing some loyalty by still recruiting to the team. He has had some head coaching experience unlike our previous coach (last week's coach).

In any case, if he doesn't get included, I don't want to lose him, I think he is a great positive for the team. The offense got better as the season went, and I am guessing he was involved with some of the great players that have been recruited in the last two years. He could be our version of Mangino, in more ways than one.

Those recruiting gains came from before gene left. I highly doubt Pollard is allowing any of the coaches to continue to hand out scholarships.

The reason he and the coaches are still there is due to the fact that it's unknown what will happen to them when we find a new coach. Also, as anyone else would do, you're going to keep contact with a person, and if they are choosing a school specifically for a certain coach -- they may end up following a coach to a different school.

I do agree with the no way jose and everything.

I think he has a chance to keep a job on the team. Certainly not as head coach though.

Already been discussed, and I think a big agreeement came in as a form of "NOOOOOO!"

Sorry, I missed the previous discussion, wouldn't have posted it if I knew, this coaching thing is moving fast.

I am surprised by his demotion. But since Gene is gone, something else was going on.

I am impressed with the offense line coaching he has done compared to Barney, I guess that wasn't too hard to do.

Speaking of Barney, he apopears to be accepted okay back in Lincoln. A winning record really helps. He still uses BarneySpeak.

Do I think McFarland should be promoted to head coach - NO. But, I think the new head coach (whoever it ends up being) really needs to consider keeping McFarland on the staff. From what I've heard from people close to the team, many of the offensive players will consider staying if McFarland is brought back.

I appreciate what he's done since Gene left. He's about option 840, I would think, but I certainly wouldn't fight keeping him on as O-Line coach.
