Difference this season could make?

Right everyone thinks that ISU is basically a charity case or a plan B for other conferences. If we beat OU and Texa$ this year that should increase our shot to get in another conference. The image of ISU beating those teams and a conference title would make it very attractive to pick up by another conference? Seems like great counter punch by a conference to me. Imagine how bad Sec will look if Texas will have a bad season this year. OU would only have to lose a couple games in order for them to look bad. If this is the last season of the big 12 we could have a huge impact on the narrative when it falls!

Seems like a lot of pressure to put on 18-22 year olds. Of course we all want to win. I say just focus on the games and what happens happens.

I doubt anyone who has risen to a high level of responsibility in any of these organizations is short sighted enough to be swayed by the results of one year. About the only thing you could say is that it is important to at least maintain the recent trajectory, which is a positive for us.

This fiasco has galvanized the ISU fan base like nothing in history. I can't wait to get into a stadium with other ISU fans.

It's a no win situation for us I think. We win and the nehsayers will spout "can you do it without Campbell because...he's gone." We lose and they don't want us because we cant beat SEC teams. This sucks, this just simply sucks.

The money is going to decide the future, not much (didnt say nothing) to do with the results on the field. I'm pretty down on things right now so probably wrong but I don't think a CFP would matter. Probably not a Natl Champ. Things are not headed in a good direction for us.

I honestly don’t think this will last past the football season. We can talk 2025, but things will move fast now - for good or not, this will be decided by November IMO.

Unfortunately at this point history matters. 100 years of bad football can't be erased by 2 or 3 good ones. If I am another conference looking at ISU for expansion I am not doing so with the expectation that they will be a perennial top 25 program. We have never proven an ability to sustain success, or maintain it through a coaching transition. A playoff bid wouldn't hurt, but outsiders will still be skeptical.

I'd love the irony if somehow KU were able to repeat their 2016 result vs UT. ( Probably wouldn't make ESPN reporting because both teams would be unranked.)

Honestly though, did the refs help out Bill Snyder everywhere, or just in ISU games? I've watched them play other teams but never saw the blatantly favorable treatment except when we were involved. Bitter is right!

I disagree. People lose perspective easily in this environment. Another NY6 bowl will absolutely help us. It won't be the deciding factor, but it moves the needle. Just as important might be how the fans show out. We need to pack Jack Trice and hopefully swarm Dallas.
