Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Lol, they obviously don't or they would know Texas is going to struggle in the SEC when they are barely hanging onto the 5th spot out of 10 teams.

They already get top recruits and they can't compete in the Big 12.
I’m glad that Alabama didn’t join the Big 12 in 2007, for their sake, they would have really struggled.

How is it on it's way out? Give me an example of how it's on it's way out? Who has got into a major conference just because they have loyal fans? You keep saying it isn't a thing anymore yet I don't see anyone leaving conferences for any other reason than more money and exposure.
Cookie. Internet devices. Almost ALL TVs now are internet based which means logic to 'target' a user. Do you see this trend? Do you understand how much more lucrative it is for advertisers? 'Targeted' advertising. Of course, with your logic, TCU should be the GOAT of advertising for the B12. So, why isn't it? Are you going to say more people outside of Austin watch that product they call Texas? I mean those that are NOT alumni?

ISU has a smaller fanbase than Mizzou by a long shot. Hence, Mizzou will have more people buying game streams. The principle is still the same. There are more eyes on Mizzou football than Iowa State. If they still have more eyes, who gives a **** if it's cable or internet? There are also way more fortune 500 companies in Missouri than Iowa. All those things are a factor. You are nuts if you think they aren't. Way more wealthy alumni than ISU. The Big 10 was the last one to expand and they added Maryland and Rutgers and now you have OU and Texas going to the SEC yet it's not about adding revenue and viewers anymore?

Honestly, Im kinda over this every other year. The one thing I dont want, is for us to kiss TX butt again to get them to stay and we have to do this again every other year.
Let the cards fall and get rid of them, tell them dont let the door hit them, and let someone else deal with their crap.
But, I also dont want to deal with all of this either, but if it gets it over with and we dont have to deal with it anymore, than good, as long as things work out.
But there is a lot of BIG IFS there, because there is no guarantee we land somewhere beneficial.

I get being tired of Texas, but then and OU leaving gets us a step closer to mid major. You can’t seriously want that.

I think its more about keeping up the the SEC, if the SEC says they are the new control of the Nat championship, then you need to have the same power structure. Staying on the same level of playing field.

Do we increase the income, not sure, But I dont think we hurt it. It would probably be a wash. And in turn they can maintain the same number of teams and same power level with the SEC, for control.

This is going to be how they force their own control of the playoff, get it to 4, 16 team conferences, a conference championship, and those winners go the the final 4. And cut everyone else out of if.
Adding Iowa State and say Kansas isn't "keeping up with the SEC".

If that Thamel article is correct, the ACC schools are only locked up until 2035 because of a trash TV deal. I'm sure there are ways around that.

I will kiss Texas’s ass if it gives us a few more years of a major conference.

There is no way an ACC school is leaving the ACC with their current GOR and media contract, they would lose way too much money for 15 years.
ACC schools are not going to be available for the B1G, its going to be if and what Big 12 schools are the other conferences going to take, because they will be going somewhere, so take them or they will go somewhere else.

What is happening is you have 10 schools that are being thrown into a bucket, with 4 conferences vying for them, 2 schools have been hooked by one of those conferences, leaving 8 schools, for the other 3 conferences to decide if they are going to keep up with the big kid on the block, to take or let another conference take them and possibly leave you behind.

You have Power 5 caliber programs available right now for expansion...where otherwise you only have G5 schools to take if you expand, if you sleep on this other conferences will take them and you will lose out. So I dont see the 3 other conferences not doing something to try to scoop up the rest or most of the rest of the Big 12 before some other conference makes a play for someone they might want.

An Iowa State, Kansas IS way more enticing for expansion than a Cincy or Memphis, and if the B1G misses the chance at us and we go to one of the other conferences and a couple years they decide they have to grow to match the other conferences it will be too late.

This is the issue right now the entire Big 12 is destabilized and the other conferences know it, and the SEC is making a play to jump to the front and control the power structure. The other conferences will have to do something to match them or be left behind.

Absolutely. If the SEC adds schools everyone else will too. This is all setting up for four 16 team conferences and they will split away and form their own league. Iowa State and KU go to the B1G. ND finally has to join a conference and they head to the ACC along with WV. Tech, oSu, K-State, and TCU head to the Pac 12. Basically everyone has a seat when the music stops except Baylor and it will be glorious.

God I used to like OU fans.

On reddit they've become insufferable the last day. Unreal. And everyone complains about the 11am kickoff times. Like it can't be that big of a deal. Jesus christ

Have you been on this board when an 11am kick is announced?

If we end up in say the B1G, and are rid of Texas. I will miss our old rivalries with our old Big 8 brothers, but be glad to be finally rid of Texas.

10 - 2 Fortune 500 check Missouri
Fanbase? Link?

Does Iowa State or any other remaining B12 school help Ohio State make more $$$? I don't know why the Big Ten would rush to grab two more programs if it doesn't increase everyone's piece of the pie.

If the Big 12 dissolves the networks will need to fill those TV slots so that's a lot of money right there. Also, the B1G network could basically name their price in the state of Iowa.

Larger state. JFC I'm telling you right now Mizzou has twice as many fans as ISU. At least. It's not even close. There are more Missouri fans in the northern 1/3 of Missouri than there are ISU fans total. Maybe not as loyal but way more numerous. It's like saying the Chiefs have more fans than the NY Giants just because Arrowhead stadium is a better atmosphere.
