Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Texas hasn't been better than Oklahoma State the last decade. Where do you think Okie St would finish?

Where Texas ends up will depend 100% on coaching. They aren't 8-4 because they can't recruit. It's because they have had meh coaching.

How was Bama before Satan showed up? They averaged 7.3 wins per year the previous decade, under 3 different coaches. That's about same as Texas has done since Mack Brown left.

Do I really have to explain the concept of quality to you? You can make money money off of less product if people are willing to pay more for the product because it's better.....how many Ford Fusions would a dealer have to sell to equal 1 Porsche?

Agree. Look at the UFC - people dropping $100 for a fistfight. They make money hand over, well fist. And ESPN gets that too.

However, there is another model, the cheap app model. Get millions of customers paying $1 each, and it does add up. I could see two CFB orgs: one going UFC and the other going 'freemium'.

I really don’t get how people think Texas is the new Nebraska. Makes no sense.

I agree with the coaching aspect:
Yeah that's fair and I get it. Texas can come back if they get the right staff. I mean, we all know if Saban would have went there a few years ago, they'd "be back."

I was just saying that Bama's 90s struggles were based upon some punishments and sanctions, something that Nebraska hasn't really had to deal with, since Nebraska was mentioned.

Murph seems to think the Big 10 is most likely for us. I wish I was as optimistic as he is about that, because I would bet the Pac 12 is more likely. I hope he's right.

Agreed, there is very little incentive for the B1G to take us on at the moment, unless they really want to go to 16 teams and can't get UNC, UVA, or someone else in a new market to hop over with KU.

I can get to 36, I'm not sure who else you cut/could cut politically.

USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Arizona State, Colorado

Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas

Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern

Texas A&M, LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee,

Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Virginia, Miami, Florida State

Somewhere an ESPN accountant just climaxed.

I have a better chance of being the next Pope than A&M moving back to the Big 12.
They moved to get away from Texas once and the athletic director was no a happy camper when he was asked about Texas moving to the SEC. Add BYU which has a legit 60,000 seat stadium. Big 12 would survive.

I think we try and get south Florida, ucf, Memphis, and Houston to keep the big 12 if we can't get into the BIG.

We should be thrilled with either. I think we might have Tulsa and Rice rolling into Ames before long.

They're about to face LSU, Georgia,TAMU, Alabama, and a couple other sneaky good teams in addition to OU. They won't be Nebraska, but not far from it. And their fans demand natties.

Missouri generates way more revenue than any of those schools. JFC if we were anything more we wouldn't be worried about where we were going to end up. Missouri has more fans, more money, bigger markets, etc... There are probably more Mizzou fans in greater St. Louis alone than ISU fans period.
You are correct. However, my point is that markets are being less-and-less defined by geography (like an urban area) and more so defined by a shared interest (such as fandom). Yes, having St. Louis be in Missouri is still a big advantage to Missouri but it isn't as big of an advantage as it used to be.

They lack the culture that’s necessary. They think they should win the national championship regularly and be 10+ wins every year. They think that anything short of that immediately is a failure. They also have the culture of those who have the talent but lack the work ethic.

They aren’t going to fall as far as Nebraska because they also lost their talent but it’s the same thing. The fans think that it is just one thing that’s causing their issues when it’s multiple things. Until they accept their true status they won’t fix the problems.

What market generates more ad revenue. Des Moines or St. Louis and Kansas City?
Still antiquated thinking. 'Targeted marketing' is the model going forward. The profit margin is significantly better using internet advertising because you have the ability to cookie trail the viewer. So 'blanket' advertising is not the preferred model going forward. But, if you're asking as if we're 10 years in the past, of course Kansas City, St. Louis, and the Des Moines. BUT, if you check the demographics, Des Moines is growing at a faster rate. So, there's that going for you.
