I’d probably put us more like 4th. Baylor and TCU are the bottom 2. Kansas for all its basketball is the worst football program. Kansas State is bad academically. So it’s really I think 4 schools fighting for 3-6. I think we’re better than Tech and WV. OSU is the one closest to us.
And even if we are 4th, what will that really gain us if the Big 10 isn’t looking to expand or the PAC 12 isn’t either?

We’d be in a big12 ‘lite’ conference after adding houston and cinci. Not optimal of course but i could palate it if forced to.
They have the money and resources to hire a good coach. That is the only thing they are missing. They have everything else. Thinking Texas won’t compete in the SEC is goofy.
Yeah that's fair and I get it. Texas can come back if they get the right staff. I mean, we all know if Saban would have went there a few years ago, they'd "be back."
OKSt academics drop them, I think their sports help, but their academics hurts them. In the grand scheme of things I dont know where all that works out, it really depends on which conference you are talking about.
Texas' issue is they make bad hires at the coaching level that can't take advantage of the money/facilities and location. We've talked about this on Discord but Texas is 33rd in winning percentage since 2010 among P5 teams (thanks for the link Doc). 32nd is Nebraska and behind other teams such as Northwestern, Missouri, and South Carolina. Herman was a lackluster hire and Sarkisian probably will be too.
I didn't say that I think that at all. I asked you what they had done to make you think that they'd regularly compete for the top 4 in the SEC.
It sucks but we’ll move on. ISU is a great institution. Don’t be a whiney ***** about it.
They already have one of the richest athletic departments in the whole country. The extra money isn't going to help them enough to offset the increase in competition.
