Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

I suppose the B10 could come calling for Missouri and Ku, both of whom have longed to be in that conference. That would open a slot for oSu to go with OU and Texas to the SEC. The P12 could then expand or create some sort of alliance with the B12 leftovers, sans Baylor and TCU.

Anyone else think Texas is going to just be a middle of the pack SEC team? OU might compete for a top 4 finish but I feel like Texas is going to be much worse off.

I hope we pound both teams in football this year. No mercy
Do I think Texas will be a middle of the pack SEC team? Absolutely not. Some of these people saying this I wonder if they will be the same ones saying the SEC is overrated when those playoff rankings come out.

Texas hasn't been better than Oklahoma State the last decade. Where do you think Okie St would finish?

Maybe not. But they clearly have a long ass ways to go to even sniff the top tier of the conference.

Obviously this is not a good situation for any of the teams remaining in the Big 12.

But I still don’t understand everyone’s assumption we’ll be the team left in the dust. Academics matter. Facilities matter. Trajectories matter.

There’s a lot more that matters nowadays than TV market and the fact we were bad back in 2007. Get out of your BCS brains for one second.

Disagree. Texas fans will be willing to pay for streaming service regardless if their worst opponent each year is South Carolina or Kansas. A lifelong Iowa State fan sure as hell isn't forking over money to watch Texas play at South Carolina if Iowa State is on the outside looking in. I along with millions and millions of others will have no dog in the fight and literally will not care and will not watch.
Bingo! Most of our falls will look a lot different. If our university is left out, I won’t need college football.

In this day of NIL do facilities, academics or trajectories even matter?

Who invites us? Big 10? No. Pac 12? Maybe, but that is worse. AAC? Well that would be catastrophic. Don’t see any other scenarios.

Hey Texas and OU, wanna see a magic trick?

Nothing up my sleeve... oh look... it's a bird.

they do if you want the athletes to compete in them

That's all well and good for you and me and our Cyclone sweaters..............but tomorrow, how do you sell ISU to a top flight recruit on academics, facilities and trajectory if all he wants is to get paid?

Personally I think they are a middle of the pack team in the Big 12 athletically. The difference is they are still politically the top dog in the Big 12.

Okie St isn't going with OU....

You make a good point. But, I'll admit, I'm not clear enough on the NIL to assume the University can just pony up money for the athlete.

Huh?? What the hell does this even mean? To generate money in the streaming era you need as much interest around the country as possible. Less interest = less money. Period. I just can't understand the logic to have less meaningful games on a Saturday for viewers to watch in lieu of more.

Do I really have to explain the concept of quality to you? You can make money money off of less product if people are willing to pay more for the product because it's better.....how many Ford Fusions would a dealer have to sell to equal 1 Porsche?
