It sounds generally all right, and nothing says "Pacific" like the state of Iowa.
I mean we currently play in a 10 team league called the big 12....

Iowa plays in a 14 team league called the Big 10 and Mizzou plays in the Southeast Conference. So yeah names don't mean muchI mean we currently play in a 10 team league called the big 12....

4- Barry Alvarez was just named the Big ten Football Czar. This can only help ISU IMO.
With all due respect, how do you know anything at this point to say such a definitive statement as if it were factual. The landscape is drastically changing before us...everything is on the table at this point. There’s absolutely zero chance we land in the BIG. Zero.
I think you are taking the opinion of some fans and putting it on the institution. I mean if Big Ten is adding schools Iowa would would rather add someone like ISU than add in someone from the ACC. They already play them every year so from that aspect not a ton would change.
Bingo, it doesn't matter who the UI president or AD is, it's their duty to try to block ISU and I'd expect JP to do the same if roles were reversed. That said, UI alone doesn't decide...Yes, but from a competitive standpoint, if ISU is in a smaller conference with less money, that means recruiting is much easier for UI. Anything that weakens ISU, helps UI - athletically anyway.
I called Jamie and asked him. With all due respect, how do you know anything at this point to say such a definitive statement as if it were factual. The landscape is drastically changing before us...everything is on the table at this point.
Bingo. Jamie needs to get the power brokers of the BIG on his side. I wonder if Gene Smith would actually support this since he used to be the AD at Iowa State.Bingo, it doesn't matter who the UI president or AD is, it's their duty to try to block ISU and I'd expect JP to do the same if roles were reversed. this comes down to votes. and besides the emotional brat A&M is, who else is voting 'No' which means they don't want more money.
75% of SEC members need to vote 'Yes' for this to pass. A&M will likely vote no. Maybe Mizzou? Maybe Arkansas. That is 11/14, that passes the 75% threshold meaning one other must say 'No' to more money
What is the % needed inside the Big10?
This is the same legislature that just a few months ago wanted to end tenure at all 3 BOR institutes and also wants to know how faculty are registered to vote. ISU football is not on the top of their mind. That’s just flat out not true on every level. Voters from both parties span both fanbases. The actual politicians that matter are Reynolds and Whitver who are both Iowa State people. That’s all aside from the fact that Iowa State not getting into something would be devastating financially for the state.
The Big Ten Conference of which Iowa is one of fourteen members. We need allies all over the B1G, hopefully Barry Alvarez is one.Who does make that call? Regents? President? Barta (lol)?
Of course all those are subject to pressure from politicians, which I think helps ISU at present.
And I quote. "It could happen. All we can do now is watch."![]()
Here's how the Big 12 falls apart and dies
It’s the nightmare scenario for the rest of the Big 12 — what if Oklahoma and Texas leave the Big 12, as they are reportedly exploring the idea of joining the Southeastern Conference? Well, the Big 12 just might be dead, if that’s the case. The league has been on life support before. But it’s […]www.heartlandcollegesports.com
"BIG TEN: KANSAS AND IOWA STATE
The Big Ten is picky. They like their members to be part of the American Association of Universities. Guess which two remaining Big 12 schools are members? Yup. The Big Ten will take the Cyclones for their new-found football rep, and the Jayhawks for their basketball pedigree, though Iowa might put up a fight about allowing the Cyclones in the league."
It would be:I'd like to go with this, only have 11 games scheduled, 3 non con, 8 conference ,with a 9th conference game coming through a semifinal round for the pod winners to get to the CCG. Then matchup the other 14 teams by where they finished in their pod standings for their 9th league game the week of the semi's.
Of one thing in this whole mess I am absolutely sure: You have no handle on how someone like Matt Campbell thinks. Your mindsets couldn't be more opposite.he won’t think like that.
So we're in great position. But if it falls through and we're left on the outside looking in:![]()
WILLIAMS: What’s next for Iowa State if the Big 12 implodes?
Before we begin, on this early hour on the morning of Thursday, July 22, I am reminded of a classic line from the song "Here We Go Again" by the hip hop titan DMX (God rest his soul). "Here we go again. Same old s**t dawg it's a different day." Now that I have that out of my system, for bettercyclonefanatic.com
