That is more because of the false bill of goods they sold us to implement it. It was sold as consolidating all of our streaming services into one and keeping the same for everything else. That isn’t what they’ve done.

I also think that most of the complaints are about streaming itself vs the cost. Internet access isn’t there in a lot of the country yet. Sure in big cities it’s fine but even in the metro there are places with substandard internet access.

Jfc, some of you guys are drama queens. We either get picked up by the Big 10 or the Big 12 still exists. You are right and it isn't viable long term then we get picked up by a Power 4 conference 8-10 years from now.

I've seen 55,000 people show up to JTS against teams like Kansas and Western Illinois when we were horrible with Paul Rhodes. So yeah, probably have to tear down the whole eastern side of the stadium just because we can't host Oklahoma once every 24 months.

and, again, it’s the short term implications that **** us over. I really think we have a shot to be a great football program. That’s very hard to maintain unless we are in a major conference.

Here's a hypothetical for everyone on nuclear meltdown mode. This is strictly in regards to Oklahoma because Texas is insignificant and have always been massive underachievers.

Let's say Cambpbell has 10 years left, the first 5 we continue like we have with Oklahoma and Texas, 8-10 win seasons, keep making good bowl games, but he just can't get over the Oklahoma hump. He either loses to them in the championship game again, or slips up against some other team which prevents us from even getting there. No Big 12 championships or playoffs.

The last 5 Oklahoma is gone, the Big 12 stays together with the remaining 8 and adds 2 other teams. Iowa St becomes the premier team in the conference under Campbell, wins at least a couple Big 12 titles and gets invited to the 12 team playoff at least once, multiple NFL picks, sold out games every Saturday.

What the hell is the difference??? Because now we cant play Oklahoma once or twice anymore? We weren't even competitive with them for like 30 years until Kyle Kempt and Matt Cambpell came along. Is it really all about the TV revenue driving all this? Who's to say Campbell won't stay or they find some other way to pony up his salary.

Another thing with recruiting, it's all relative, you guys act like our recruiting would take a hit, but so would every other team in the conference. There's still the same amount of players out there, we have added 2 new expansion teams to college football. Yeah, the overall talent of the conference will go down but it's relative. What's the worst case if that happens? We can beat Big 12 teams but can't compete with ghr Alabama and Clemsons? How is that any different than right now.

The implications of not being in a power conference I think are bigger you’re making it seem. That’s not a for sure outcome at this point. But it’s a very plausible one. And it’s really scary. To think otherwise is burying your head in the sand.

What is interesting about this move if it indeed happens is it is clearly about the SEC trying to breakaway from the NCAA, which is a thing that has been talked about for some time.

Now I spin this years down the road, but I wouldn’t exactly feel good if I was Vandy, Mississippi State or a school like that in the SEC or other major conferences. Because I wouldn’t put it past the ones controlling all of this to eventually want to trim this down even further and ideally just get all of the biggest brands together in one league (I.e top 25-30 programs) and basically be the minor league for the NFL.

These guys only care about money and to hell with tradition and life-long partnerships. They wouldn’t even need the SEC name so the big guns of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Georgia and now Texas and OU would basically opt to dissolve the SEC and form their own conference with discussions going on behind the scenes with ND, Ohio State, Michigan, etc.

Exactly. If we think about it, this is similar to the big soccer clubs working toward breaking away from UEFA and forming their own closed league of top clubs. Unfortunately, there won’t be near as much push back against it in college football.

There is only one benefit to doing this…money. as mentioned, Texas would get lost in the SEC much like Missouri has. OU would win a championship once in a blue moon.

The money in the SEC doesn't make that large a difference for Texas or OU. If having more money doesn't lead to more success, then what's the point of having more money?

Big Ten requires AAU membership to join, I believe that is only KU, ISU, OU and Tex out of the Big 12. So if you send OU and Tex to SEC I would thing KU and ISU would be somewhat a choice for Big Ten. There are not that many AAU schools around that would make a move.

Also, I am sure the Iowa legislature would get involved as they threatened last time to force Iowa to vote/petition the B1G to admit us.

So who knows. I dont claim to know what all is going on, but saying the B1G wont take us is short sighted, Saying it is what we want is not true either, but if the Big 12 starts to fall, it is the best outcome I believe.

This coupled with how TV is consumed changes everything. The B1G network would also be able to raise their subscription fee since they will have the networks and the streaming platforms by the balls in Iowa. To say that Iowa state doesn't offer the B1G any value is silly.

Really don't think this is dead in the water now. TX and OU have opened a door and destabilized everything. ISU needs to think about ISU at this point and I hope this serves as a call to action.

Why would OU and Texas move and hurt themselves then? They aren’t getting past Alabama, and the second tier of that conference (Georgia, Florida, etc) are just as good as OU and Texas are. All this does is hurt their chances to make the playoff. But I guess the money outweighs that

It's something we latch on to. B1G has been drooling over ND for decades and they don't have AAU. If the right school comes along it won't matter. I suppose you could say for a school like ISU it could be used as an excuse to cut them from the list, so I guess we clear that hurdle, but it's not going to stop the conference from adding a team they really want.

You still need to include the payout for including Iowa State in the Big Ten part of the equation! The minute Iowa State joins...will they increase revenues for the Big Ten more than what a school gets paid for being a member now? If not...it lessens the payouts to the rest of the schools so why would they want that?

George finishing the books is less likely than the Big 12 staying together at this point.
